Is the guy a snake in the grass TSUN feeder or just feedin us what we need to hear? I have met the guy numerous times while at Eupora and he is very full of himself. Is he a product of the Mikey Justice, Bobby Hall coaching tree (tsun recruit supplier)?

It's not like OM just started getting SP players under Pogue.

At this moment, he has only one player on his squad committed and that commitment is to MSU.

And Mike Justice definitely wasn't the problem for us at Madison Central. He's an MSU guy and the only player we did get off that team was his son.</p>

Speaking of Hall, has anybody else heard that there is trouble brewing for him right now concerning the NCAA?

There has been talk all year about Hall being fired. There was a rumor that he was sleeping with the wrong woman, and another rumor was a cop let him out of a DUI. I'm pretty sure the second one is true.

Pogue is everything that is wrong with high school athletics. His line about making his players shut it down once they "commit" was ********. I could go on and on, but for the sake of my blood pressure, I won't. Just know that Pogue sucks.

that Hall would stay until the end of the year because he is also the athletic director. At least the one that I heard.

IF the rumors are true, Madison County schools might be wanting to avoid a lawsuit because teacher contracts are one year contracts. If they don't want you back, they just don't renew your contract. A lot of times when a teacher is fired in the middle of the school year, it leads to litigation, even if it's a legit reason for firing that teacher.

Now, that said, Hall might have a different contract because of his administrative position and the amount of money that he is being paid. The only reason that I know the info that I do about this is because I used to be a teacher myself. But, I've never had an administrative position, and I most certainly never had a six figure salary. But, it was to my understanding that ALL teachers were on one year contracts.

So, I don't know if Hall will leave or not. But I do know this- whenever he does leave and however it ends, it won't be pretty. Right now, the football program is really divided and it's not good.

How about this...

I have questioned some of his early decisions, but he won a national $$###@! championship while coaching in MS. Then he coached the nation's best players to a win the biggest high school allstar game in the nation. To say he sucks is really a stretch.

You obviously got your feelings hurt over Brassell. But as already discussed today, there is absolutely nothing Pogue can do to make Brassell stay committed. Brassell's HS career is over.

And furthermore, ifBrassell had committed to OM at some point, Pogue had made the same statement about commitments, andBrassell decide to switch to MSU but Pogue pressured him to stay with OM. You'd be bitching about Pogue forcing Brassell to stay committed to OM.

And please elaborate on how is is "everything that is wrong about college sports". I can't wait to hear it.

Justice did not care were his players went, it was there decision. He is a state guy and his son did walk on. Other players went to UT,UM, and USM under justice.

as he pleased when there was an obvioiusdrug problem that everyone and their mother knew of. How about allowing him to do whatever the hell he wanted but never missed a snap on Friday night. Star recruit Tig and the he hadnt even taken the ACT during the visit time of recruiting. Could argue thats not his responsibility but sketchy. Running Nick Parker 56 times on a bum ankle in a playoff game. Not a biggie.

Getting over Brassell is not that hard because most all the SP players never enter the doors of 17nut high. The only way you get them in is to have their cert. of attendance from special ed. turn into a high school diploma. That has not happen to many times, so they go back to pulpwood trucks or wood yards or sell crack.

So is that the plan with Market?

They"never enter the doors" of OM, but we "get them in" with a certificate of attendence? Nice.

Maybe hauling pulpwood is what Pegues is doing now. He obviously isn't playingprofessional football with his friends Sanford, Jerry, andJerry.

all those rumors were the exact ones I heard...exactly...so where there is smoke there is usually fire..and in addition to those, supposedly the NCAA is in the picture over handling of players

comes directly from South Panola fans, and I'd really like to know why. Not talking about recruiting, but him as a high school coach.

I know the standards are high, but he seems to be getting the job done...

ETA: Running Parker 56 times in the SC game (if it really was 56) is insane, I will admit. HS backs shouldn't total 56 in two games combined.

I'm not sure if 56 is the exact number, but high school backs shouldn't total that number of carries in two games combined - especially on a bum ankle.

It may have cost them the state championship that year though. South Panola had 56 offensive snaps against NW Rankin and ran Nick Parker on every single one of them. It may be a coincidence or not, but he was never the same after that night.

Slight correction...

It was 58 times for 373 yards and it wasn't every single snap. I don't disagree that it was too many times.

Nick is a tough kid. He wanted the ball. He never asked to leave a game in his last two years of HS ball.

I was more mad at Pogue for not giving the ball to Nick 4 straight times in overtime of the state championship game the next week.

Nick only played one more HS game after the game you say "he was never the same after". He ran for 128 yards on 34 carries the next week in the championship.

He is fine now and has put on somemuscle sinceenrolling. Not sure how you come to the "never the same" conclusion.

before losing to Meridian for the title. 128 yards on 34 carries isn't exactly what you'd call a good game for a RB. I thought he played for SP the next year too and didn't have as good of a season. Clearly I'm confusing him with another SP player.

Edit: I'm not saying Pogue isn't a great coach. He obviously is. You don't win that many games without being a great coach.

You are right about the semis.I forgot that MC was the next game after NWR. And hell, I was there.

Something people here fail to recognize about Pogue is that he has drastically improved the football team's grades, attitude, and discipline since he arrived. As evidence of that, you can watch the film of the OB/SP near fight in the playoffs this year. I truly believe that situation would have erupted into a fight under Ricky Woods and especially under Ed Stanley. Coach Woods was a great coach, but he left a program that needed more discipline. Pogue, like his players, is always going to be under more scrutiny than lesser known coaches.

where Qyen Griffen spiked the ball on the Olive Branch player laying on the ground? Yeah, I thought that was pretty good discipline too.

And yes, I've watched the film.
