Heard on Out of Bounds this morning that there is a rumor going around that Lance Pogue might be interested in the Northwest Rankin job. Anyone else hear that? If i was Lance Pogue i wouldn't go anywhere but too the college level. Bo Bounds was saying it would be a good move to Northwest but why would you leave your comfortable job at SP for Northwest? Lance Pogue could easily move to the college level if he wanted. Bo made the argument that moving down to the Jackson area would be a better family move just for stuff to do. Sure flowood is much better of a town than batesville but still you would be leaving a lot of talent up at South Panola. </p>

because the expectations at NWR aren't as high as at South Panola. I would imagine he would probably make as much (if not more) at NWR, too. Like you said, the Reservoir > Batesville x 1000.

Money isn't an issue. There are personal issues.

If NWR wants Pogue, he'll go there. NWR can become a juggernaut in 3-5 years.

Remember that in 3-5 years... This guy is the afterlife of Ricky Woods... Followed basically the same path he did to the SP job and knew exactly when to jump ship to make himself look like the big time coach everywhere he's been... Look back at what happened to Woods when he maid the move to Georgia... I don't know anything about the up-and-comers in the NWR schools but if Pogue is wanting to get in there, they must have some big-time talent moving up...

He's secure at SP...for now. However, he'll get canned if he went 2 seasons without a championship. He'd never get fired at NWR as long as he kept them competitive. He'll e able to do that there. Plus, as you said, the money is probably comparable and there's much more to do in the Jackson metro area than there is in Batesville.

Lance and the principal at SP are at serious odds with each other- principal wants lance to be on time, pull his duties, become part of the staff, ect... lance has said he was hired to win championships not be on time ect....Pricipal has told Sup and school board either he or Pouge has to go. FWIW

They have nowhere near the talent that SP has on the field. Unless he recruits player sot come to NWR, I just don't see it...

While all had major success at SP I dont think anyone in there right mind could challenge the fact that Lance Pogue by far has had the most dominant tenor. SP has almost been unbeatable. With woods and stanley while they were still very good, they were not unbeatable. Plus he has beat many out of state powerhouses. SP isnt just a premier ms program, its a premier nat'l program. To say pogue is overated sounds a little crazy to me.

I've seen several nationally ranked high school teams play on TV and South Panola year-in and year-out just simply has bigger, stronger and faster players than those schools do. Pogue didn't win like this when he was at Winona and he won't win like this when he leaves South Panola. If he takes the NWR job, they'll get better because he's better than David Coats was. But they're not going to suddenly be challenging for state titles.</p>

And that was his first year in the Championship Game against Wayne County. He had the vast majority of wins during The Streak. It was Pogue's coaching that ended The Streak. And then his coaching got us beaten by MUS 2 seasons ago. He's had more losses in fewer seasons than Ricky. Honestly, it's not even close. Hell, the man ran off Willis Wright, a.k.a. The Godfather of SP. That told me all I needed to know about the man and his "coaching." We're much more vulnerable with Pogue as HC than we were with Ricky as HC.

I know Isaac Gross is getting a lot of attention, but is there anyone else that graduates in 2012?

Im pretty sure Tony Conner is everyone's next big thing, but who else will probably go D-I next year?

i will defer to your closeness to the program. i thought pogue was the man, but i guess i stand corrected. that said, he would still be better than coates

I believe thatNWR has a few D1 prospects in the program in Reid Humphries (QB) and Jakory Trigg (WR), there may be others that I'm not aware of. As a nwr grad and football player from the days of being everyones doormat (co '97) I'd take an "overrated" Coach Pogue in a New York second. Coach Coates' programhad beenmaking progress of late but he's not on that level.

I'd like to hear some othernwr folks thoughts. Hatfield, BriantheDog, Azzuri, what say ye? I'm just tickled thatthey can be in the conversationfor guys likeMarcus Broyles and Lance Pogue.

Like you, I'm not real sure outside of Gross. He's a freak, though. Has a tremendous, explosive first step. Conner is definitely the next big thing, though. That entire 11th grade class is pretty ridiculous. Conner is just the most ridiculous.

NWR does't need a 3 yards and cloud of dust coach. With the talent we have a qb and receiver we need an innovative offensive coach. Don't know who that is, but I don't think it's Pogue.

I hear that NWR is in talks with Pete Hurt from Center Hill in Desoto County. I believe he was the HC at Clinton back in their glory days.

Thug life style at USP, his kids are getting older and he is probably looking at a better school system for them. If Lance does come, you can be sure he gotguaranteedfull control of program from middle school up. Plus houses as the Rez are a steal right now.<div>
</div><div>The USPformulaisprettysimple, run the exact same system from the day a kid puts the pads on for the first time until he graduates (or exhaustseligibility/goes to jail) and get them in theweightroom. NWR has a good program now, give Lance four years and they are in the state championship game. Eupora had really fallen off due to poor leadership, Lance had them playing for the state in short order.</div>
