Everything the roughnecks do is incorrect (the worst of it turning wrenches clockwise when they want to loosen a pipe and using a hammer on a pipe wrench - normally you'd have a "cheater" pipe that fit over the pipe wrench handle for leverage), but BBT's daughter turns it in a 5 star show.

The stupidity of and wanton whoreish behavior by the wife and daughter make it unwatchable. Take them out of show and it's ok.

Even farm boys know to use a cheater pipe

It’s called leverage. You learn stuff like that at Mississippi State University(or on the job before you get to MSU)

Right. I use a cheater pipe with my lug wrench to loosen/tighten the lugs whenever I rotate my tires at home.

Didn't know it was called a "cheater pipe though. I like it!

I have personally hammered on a 4' pipe wrench with a 10 pound sledge hammer on an oil rig. You put a piece of rope thru the hole and one guy holds pressure on it while another guy hammers it tight. I don't know what they use these days but that's how it was done in the 80s. Blowoff stacks are not quite the same as lug bolts

I was a petroleum Landman for 15yrs+. Trust me the Landman show is all Hollywood. Nothing remotely close to what true Landman does in his job. I have some crazy stories of my years on the job but none of them include killing somebody, blowing up somebody’s well or dealing with the cartel.

Most of a Landman’s time is spent at the court house looking up deeds and mineral rights. Not out doing exciting stuff. Got a cousin that’s been one for 45 years

Had a good friend who was a "land man". You're right, nothing like it but he did die at about 42 and he could play that part pretty well lol.

Also ran a farm/ranch for 30+yrs and always had a cheater pipe for leverage on pipe wrenches also other things that required leverage. My go to cheater pipe was the bar out of old round baler, non belt type. Had multiple in back of truck at all times. Cut to different lengths depending on the amount of leverage needed.

A two piece jack handle from a 48” farm jack makes the ultimate cheater pipe. But if a hammer is more convenient then……….

Yep, not a landman. In one of the scenes, Billy Bob's character admits to being an oil company general manager. I guess General Manager doesn't have quite the same ring as landman.

The biggest stretch to me is pretending like there's anything nice or ritzy about Midland. And one of the kids acts like Aledo is where all rich kids live in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Midland is a shìthole and Southlake/Highland Park is were all the rich kids live. Aledo is where the upper middle class people who wear bedazzled jeans live. It's a budget version of Prosper.

Too many F-bombs to suit me (hint - I'm almost 75 years old), but hey, I hear too many of them in the local YMCA locker room as well. Other than the F-bombs, the dialogue and script are really good.

My dad started his career in the oil business in Midland Tx. He was a WWII Navy pilot, graduated MSU 1949 with a degree in geology. Hired by Shell Oil Company and deployed to Midland. They were just starting to discover the west Texas oil fields. He played softball with George H. Bush for several summers in Midland. My sister was born in Midland.

I still do some business around Midland and have a couple friends there, but I'd rather work in Saudi than Midland

What about the drive through coffee with big a$$ titties? That is the only part I want to know (or care) if it’s real or not.
I was in Texas working last year traveling through some little town somewhere around Fort Bragg and pulled into a drive through coffee place and they were wearing bikinis. That was a first for me.

The one thing I learned about Midland was from Boobie Miles and Midland doctors.

Good you didn't join the Marine Corps. It's the first word you hear when you get up and the last word you hear when you go to sleep and many times throughout the day.

Billy Bob character question. What kind of money in real life would he be making as General Manager?

My wife, who’s clearly smarter than me, said the show is called Landman because his son is becoming one. Makes sense that way to me!

If you were in Texas and pulled into a little town around Ft. Bragg….you either weren’t in Texas, or you didn’t go to Bragg (Liberty to be PC). Either way, who’s your doc and what drugs are you on? ******* 😎😎

You are correct, it was Fort Hood or at least was Fort Hood. I can’t remember what they call it now days. I get my civil war generals mixed up sometimes!
