The first season was pro explicit sexualization of a 17 year old character a whole lot more than it was pro oil.

The show sucks, but gooning middle aged men are gonna obviously defend it.
Gooning teenage boys, middle-aged men, and old codgers like me will always defend T&A on television until you pry our cold dead fingers off the remote.

Half of us can't follow a story anyway. But t i t ties? We can follow those!

If you don't like 'em... you can move to Hajibastan.

You can run down other tv shows, hot women, shiity acting, whatever - but Golden Girls slander will not be tolerated here.

Wow. I mean really just wow. I have never even heard of a red blooded American male that does not like T and A. I mean I get acting like you are superior, and using AI to make us all want to scream. But afraid of beautiful women? Again, just wow.

Good one, really got me there.**

Is there a pro-oil message to the show? The first season depicted gangs trying to control land through violence and people dying because of unsafe working conditions and improper procedures.

If the characters weren't so poorly created, and the campy acting and writing weren't so terrible, it could be an interesting show.
I just thought I'd drop in and clear up one piece of disinformation -- Michelle Randolph is 28 in real life.

Goon away, boys!!!**

Was that unclear? I continually said it's a 17yo character.

But since you mention, it's got some real 90210 vibes with old folk playing teens.
...or pick any other show or movie where 30yo plays 17yo.

Yes, I saw that you added the unneccessary qualifying word "character" to each of your comments, to be sure you had a response later. I know how it goes. I try to hedge my comments too sometimes when necessary.

But my PSA was not for you - I just wanted the rest of the normies around here to know it's okay to think that this particular 28 year old woman is beautiful.

Ralph Macchio was 22 when he played Johnny.

Ali Larter is 49 there GLFR. And definitely goon worthy. She alone makes it watchable from a T and A standpoint. Anything else is just bonus goon. The lawyer ain’t bad either.

I thought it was necessary to add 'character' because if that was actually a 17yo, then shít shoulda been pulled from the air long ago.
This isn't a Brooke Shields from the 70s level of issue.

Its funny the focus in this thread has turned to defending Sheridan hypersexualizing a high school girl.
The show sucks. It's just not good. The characters are poorly created and developed, the acting isn't good, and the lines are campy as hell.

"But there are scenes with semi-revealing clothing so it's worth watching!"
It's 2026, the entire historical library of content is available at your fingertips...and Landman is what some watch because a couple of clothed women are hot.

So you are saying there won't be any Academy Award nominations forth coming.

- the scripts and acting are bad and make the show not worth watching.
- men defending their watching a 17 year old high school character be heavily sexualized because they enjoy how hot she is is pathetic.
- the female main characters are so over the top and annoying that it ruins the show.

Its unfortunate you find 'gooning' to be a weird *** term, since it perfectly describes how many of the sexually repressed middle aged guys on here handle their frustration.
She's in college now. She's legal but I guess it can still be slightly creepy. I agree with your other comments. I'm not enjoying it as much as I did the first season. Plus I know an actual landman who is just a normal guy with no string of one one-liners.

My grandmother would have pulled a butter knife out of the dish drainer and threatened to hack your head off with it if you dared discrace the Golden Girls. I have no doubt she would wind up on the secret service watch list if the State of the Union was on during it.

True, at least it isnt a 'reality' show.
And Sopranos was entertaining, damn right.

I am not suggesting a show needs to be a documentary to be worth watching. I am suggesting that Landman specifically is a 17ing worthless show because of its characters, storylines, writing, and acting.
i like it

Middle aged dudes gooning to the women in this shitass show is both unsurprising and sad.
The storyline sucks. The characters suuuuuck. And the writing sucks.
Just low quality manufactured drama that is poorly acted.

1883 and 1923 were worth watching. Mayor of Kingstown was good for the first couple seasons. Lioness didnt suck.
But Landman?...oof, it is awful. Its like he decided a show should be created that highlights the absurdity and insanity of that grown daughter from Yellowstone.
Goon away though.
Have you ever considered changing your gender identity?

I have not.

Its 2026- I dont need to sit thru a hour of bad writing and poorly developed characters to see attractive women.
The one thing Sheridan did well is named that exhaustingly cliche daughter 'Ainsley'. And the only way to have improved her name would have been to spell it 'Ainsleigh' so it too could have been a total tragedeigh like the rest of the show.

You really should, I think you'd be happier.

And for someone who hates the show, you sure do know a lot about it and have a lot of opinions on it. Would you prefer Ainsley to have been named something more gender-neutral like Alex or Tracy, giving she/her a fair shot later in life?

I know about the show because I watched some of the first season. It doesnt take long to understand the show- its really basic.

And I said that the character being names Ainsley is spot on...so why would I prefer she have a different name? I swear, a lot of the stuff that is posted to rip on me makes 0 sense. Ha, its about as good as the writing on that show.

GLFR doesn’t like a show with a lot of conservative humor and points. More at 10

Demi Moore was named Peoples magazine most beautiful woman of 2025 and yet I don't recall one mention of her in this thread, just an observation. I will add her attempted southern accent sucks, but she is, thanks to medical marvels, the girl my generation fell in love with on St. Elmo's Fire.

It feels like someone discovered the term “gooning” and wants to try and use it to seem young. Congrats I guess. Also I haven’t seen this show but I bet it’s not as good as Breaking Bad.

Three's Company, Brady Bunch, Leave it to Beaver, Gilligan's Island and several other shows were not advanced in their writing and character development either, still doesn't mean they weren't enjoyable and had a place in several people's entertainment. But please be an "enlightened liberal" and lecture those of us that like things you don't on how we should all think like you. That's gotten the Democrats far in the last 5 years.

Proof that people magazine sucks ***.

But I will say held priority status with me back in the mid 90's, alongside Marisa Tomei, Salma Hayek, and Susanna Hoffs. My Mount Rushmore, if you will.

What now? I said I watched some of the first season- post 64.

the 'I have not' that is part of the post you quoted wasnt about if I have watched the show, it was about if I have considered changing genders...because SPS is SPS.
