I say he stays where he is until the Alabama job opens and it probably won't be that far off.
With what DeBoer is doing this year, that job may not open up for a long time. If you’re looking to move somewhere you can win a national championship, it’s very dangerous to wait for one job. You have to take the opportunity when it presents itself. That said, we just don’t really know anything at this point. He may just really love UMiss & Oxford and retire there. He may not even get an offer this year anyway. Gut feeling , it’s at least 50-50 he’s at UMiss for a while. But that’s just a guess.

I think you are overestimating the appeal of spending a decade at a place where you can't win a championship. That's just not how these guys are wired. If he wants it easy, he can retire right now. I would bet that if you ask most coaches if they would rather make $100M over ten years, or make $60M over 6 but have a chance at winning a championship, they are taking the shot at the championship.
Also he doesn't care about the money. He wants to win. Where is it easier to win. He's basically saying that he's leaving.

I'd be over it in about 1 minute if he does announce he's staying. Won't change a damn thing for our football team, unfortunately. I imagine and hope that it would take y'all a lot longer than that to recover. No offense**
I'll be happy if he stays and all they announce is his ridiculous contract. Then I know they went all in on him and it was about the money. This will take away from their nil, etc.

Let’s just stop this narrative now. If he makes the playoffs (which seems likely) & they keep him whatever it costs is worth it. They’ll more than make up for it with the revenues they generate. People been saying coaches salaries are out of hand even since Jackie Sherrill left Pitt for Texas A&M. And they’ve been wrong every time.

I think the focus shouldn't be on the salary offers that Kiffin is going to get from UM, UF or LSU. They'll all come pretty close at the end of the day.

The central issue that all coaches are evaluating is how much can a school's alumni base guarantee to pay for rosters. That's where UF probably has the lead over the other schools. If he can get assurances that one program will spend substantially more $ on players, then he'll go to that school. Just my opinion.

I think LSU will outspend any of them. But do you really want to live in Baton Rouge? I mean, it's a fun place to visit, but 2-3 days is plenty.

I hope he stays just to stick it to LSU, who thinks they can get anyone they want. Plus, him being in state keeps Lebbs on his toes.
You wanna be the man, you gotta beat the man!

And let's face it, Lane is the most 17n OM coach EVER!

??? huh? He's 7-1 and waltzing into the playoffs. He's winning just fine at OM.

And when he hasn't won at OM it is usually a result of some dumbass call he made.

I think that the Florida alumni base is larger and wealthier than LSU, and will get in line once a coach like Kiffin is announced. He runs programs like they are pro franchises and makes no bones about it. I see him going to UF if he leaves. I also think he'd really like the Bama job and could see him holding serve to see what happens with DeBoer.
