Seriously. The guy takes over a well oiled machine as offensive coordinator at USC for what, 1 or 2 years at the most? He is able to parlay that experience into the head coaching job of the Oakland Raiders. He is a colossal failure and gets called out publicly by the owner in one of the strangest post firing interviews I have ever seen. And what happens?

He is named the head coach at UT. He commits several NCAA violations. Then his players get arrested for armed robbery and he leads UT to a 7-6 season after getting blown out by OM and VT. What happens?

He gets handed the keys to a Rolls Royce of a program....Plus he has a smokin hot wife. The guy is truly lucky. I still can't tell what he has actually accomplished.</p>

...glad you included the part about the wife. Unproven, shoots off at the mouth, falls into great situations, and bangs a stripper every night. Not too shabby.

He shared offensive coordinator duties with Steve Sarkisian. And I've heard that Sarkisian was the real brains behind the operation. USC lost nothing when Lane left for the Raiders. With a head coaching record of 12-21, it's a wonder he keeps getting plumb jobs. Must be a hell of an interviewer.

Chow is running the offense. Monte running the defense. Ogre is recruiting. Kiffin can just sit back and drink Sangria's.

Plus he's been a head coach in the SEC (although a huge failure), an assistant in the NFL, and an assistant at UTenn, and now he is heading back to SC.

I wanted him to be our OC back when we fired Bruce Arians and Bill Clay. I wanted us to get Chow- then at BYU- and Joe Lee Dunn. I love Chow's offense.

That said, I think he might be getting a little past his prime. But we'll see. He is one of the best developers of QB's in football history.

which landed him an SEC head coaching gig, where he sucked (and did nothing but recruit). He then landed a 400K a year job in the NFL for a year where he did nothing which he parlayed into a job as a position coach recruiter getting paid like a head coach.

Yeah, he's running a close second b/c he's pretty much sucked at actually coaching football yet made a ton of money.

face it, guys that suck like he did, don't get to keep riding the wave like he is.

I mean, good gosh, the guy did nothing and got a head coaching job in the SEC. Tell me that's not a charmed life.

into such a good job? My view is USC panicked when they got turned down by Riley and Sarkesian and made a hire way too quickly.
