Here you go

"I think his family was looking for a situation with a stronger foundation and a more structured environment," Carter said. "Q had every intention of finishing high school in Mississippi, but he wasn't going to be allowed to transfer in Mississippi again. It's important for these kids to have everything in line, not just athletically but academically also. His family wants Q to be pushed to his ability. He's a very intelligent kid."

Murrah is one of the top 100 public schools in the USA. I am calling bs on the academic excuse. Wonder which Big East school is paying for this?</p>

Nationwide, 100 schools received gold medal awards based on the college readiness index. In Mississippi, 39 high schools received bronze awards and one high school -- Murrah -- received a silver medal award. Murrah is among 461 high schools nationwide to receive a silver. No gold medals were awarded in Mississippi.

there's no <17>ing way Murrah is one of the top 1,000 public schools in the USA, much less the top 100. I don't care what kind of ******** ranking they got.

No I didn't go to a "JPS school." I went to a private school in Madison. I grew up in Jackson though. Still live here actually. Thank God my parents did not send me to a public school in Jackson.

And yes, I attended 2 of them, though did not graduate from one. And even if you didn't go to school there, you can still assess the value and merit of them. In fact you are probably MORE independent than if you had gone to/graduated from a JPS school.

A few reasons JPS schools are not considered quality educations:
No diversity
Most all JPS senior highs are located in high crime areas
Student/teacher ratios

there is NO WAY that Murrah High is the best school in MS. Oak Grove is a "Blue Ribbon" school, and I believe the only one in MS! Not to mention I know a handful or graduates from Murrah, so if they are any measure of the education one receives from that school then no, it is DEFINITELY not the best.

I understand the principle behind your post, but I'm pretty sure I got a quality education from Murrah. Now it's definitely declined as a school in the years since.

. . . attending a Jackson Public School certainly didn't hurt my lot in life (nor my education, income, honors, awards, managerial skills, etc.). Just sayin'. Yes, they've gone downhill in the last 10 years, but you can still get a very good education at Murrah (my alma matter) taking the right classes.
