....one of the reasons I just got an XM radio was to listen to that old codger.

Munson is one of the all-time greats in college football. I hate he is retiring. He's got some great one-liners and gives a great description of the game. His voice is legendary and I am sad to see him go.

I think ol Jack will be following suit before long. I told my 3 young boys Saturday to enjoy listening to Mr. Jack call the game because they won't be hearing him on the radio much longer. They couldn't believe he's been calling state games since 1953.

i would have to guess that jim ellis is next, but i would like to see a young guy get a shot. if it works, he could start another long streak like jack.

i think ben ingram would be a great choice for jack's successor. good radio voice, and i think he would really enjoy the job and do a good job.

Jack is getting up there too. I can appreciate Munson calling it quits, the man has done this practically his entire life.

but I think I'd prefer we go new blood. Just my honest opinion.

I can tell you one thing, I sure as hell wouldn't want to be "that guy" that followed Cristil. There might be some wisdom in letting Jim have it for a year or two before bringing in the new guy so as to create some distance between Jack and the successor.

i know ben was a state fan growing up - that's one reason why i think he would be honored to have the job and could be a long-lasting choice.

Put Wyatt in the booth with Jim and put Ingram on the sidelines for a few years. Then transition to Ingram for play-by-play. Jim is no spring chicken either.

wesley carroll only made one bad throw saturday, and that the INT in the end zone was a "great play by carroll", then i would rather have a blind man doing the radio broadcast.

stumbled across Munson the night of the 26-20 basketball game at the Hump. Bob Boyd decided to let the air out of the ball, before shot clock implementation to ice Dominique Wilkens. As I remember, the game was delayed due to an ice storm in Starkville and only a handful of fans showed at the Hump. State's network where I was living at the time, did not pick up the late start on the radio broadcast. So I scanned the dial and picked up UGA's network on 780 AM out of Atlanta.

Mr. Munson was pissed, bored, and mad as hell at Boyd's tatics.

to see Ben do MSU baseball. Nothing against Jim or Bart, they do a good job. But, I think baseball is Ben's first love, and he does a great job for the M-Braves. Maybe he could do both football and baseball.
