have us at the #5 national seed, paired up w USM's regional (which has OM). That'd be interesting...

That would be interesting indeed. I honestly like USM's chances of advancing through regional play if Ole Miss comes to Hattiesburg. They're good, but I think we're better. I don't think we could play our way out of a regional in Starkville. Your pitching is just better. If State and USM were to meet in Supers, I'd expect State to win but we'd have more of a chance. And I'd definitely be there. Would be a fun weekend no matter the outcome.

That would be a fun Super.

Assuming we won the regional and one of the lesser Ms team also advanced.

I think if the season ended today that's EXACTLY what would happen. We would also shatter every attendance record we ever set.

You guys scare me because of your offense. If everyone get's hot at the right

time you are going to make some noise.

Compared to Baseball America's picks...

It looks like the D1 guys are factoring in region influence more.
BA has no West Coast regionals, while D1 throws in UCSB and 'Zona. Honestly, given UCSB's RPI in the top 10, I'll be shocked if they don't get a host site to give California some representation. I don't know about the 'Zona pick, though.
BA replaces LSU with the black bears, and UCSB and 'Zona with Houston and ULL. I think we all know that first replacement isn't going to happen unless UM picks up their game. I'd also say it's extremely unlikely there will be no regionals west of Texas.

To my eye it appears we're fighting NC State, TCU, and Coastal Carolina for a national seed. With that in mind, pull for Georgia Tech to beat the Chanticleers this weekend, and Texas Tech to smack TCU around. That would help knock each down a notch.

And Cal State Fullerton, no matter how low they are seeded, always does big damage in the postseason.

And Tulane ain't bad...didn't they beat LSU last night? That looks like a brutal Regional for a National Seed. Maybe I'm just putting too much stock in the names though. I have no clue how good CSF & Tulane truly are.

Good rule of thumb is you don't want a team with twice your Omaha appearances in your regional. I hope they put CSF in one of the Texas regionals. They looked good manhandling UCLA last night.

Tulane kicked the **** out of us a couple weeks ago in our worst performance of the season. They're damn good, but our midweek pitching has been a roller coaster. As for Fullerton, I know nothing about them. Back in 2009 though, they came to Hattiesburg for a 3 game series and dominated USM. I had never seen college baseball played at that level. It's like we were playing the New York Yankees. Funny enough, only other team I remember being in awe of was Tulane's 2005 squad.

A little Cal State Fullerton trivia. The year they won their first national title, they lost their first game in the College World Series. To Mississippi State. It was the only CWS game we won that year.

I have always wondered why Cal State Fullerton, out of all really good baseball programs in California, seems to always be the best. They don't seem to have anything else going for them except a year-in-year out elite baseball program in an unheard of conference.
