The key to beating Heritage is to make Davis carry the ball 35-40 times rather than 15-20 times. This might seem crazy but, think about it...He had 35 carries for 226 yrds and only one TD (less than 10 yrds) versus Glass. His longest run that game was under 30 yards. Nearly every other game he has had over 200 yards, multiple touchdowns, and several runs in the 30-60 yards range, all with only 15-20 carries. Make him earn short, hard yards and you have a chance to beat Heritage. Of course, that's a lot easier said than done.
Everyone talks about Glass creating the "Blueprint" to beating Heritage but keep in mind X's and O's don't replace Jimmies and Joes. Glass had a great scheme PLUS some straight studs on D. Glass has something no other team in the area/region has, #2 LB Thomas Patterson. Probably the best defensive player in the region. Just saying, Davis will always get a bunch of yards but you want him to get those yards on a lot of short to mid-range runs. It's a lot easier said than done containing him.
QUOTE="Bulldogs_to_flames, post: 269645, member: 9962"]I think if lca can stop #11 from running the ball all over them then I think they have a shot to beat heritage but that's a tall order bc #11 is a good high school back and lca run defense is suspect allowing 400+ against JF and 200+ against liberty last week[/QUOTE]
