In your opinion who do you think was the leader of MSU's 2009 offense? This should be based on intangibles as well as productivity on the field (i.e., meaning the best player with the best stats isn't necessarily the definitive team leader but can be). So this could include the player's ability to fire the team up, etc.I know a lot of you guys go to practice and $*#* and you also have inside scoop on some player dynamics.

I'll list as many folks as I can remember starting and/or playing on offense last season. I'll likely miss someone or list someone that got hurt/shot at a Budweiser car too. Deal with it.

something that matters -- Who is/will be the leader of the 2010 offense?

I think I mentioned this as a concern before the season (since everyone else bumps their own "I was right" threads I may go find it), but I didn't - and still don't - see Relf or Bumphis taking control of the team as a vocal leader... And haven't seen it out of anyone else so far either. This may be the way we MOST miss Dixon this year. I think if you put Ballard in against Ole Miss and run the same offense, we still run all over them. He's very serviceable -- maybe even good -- but he hasn't played enough to have Dixon's attitude and leadership.

Wasn't it Dixon and Chaney who challenged the Gators at mid-field? Wasn't it AD who was talking smack to the UK players pre-game? I don't see much of that this year. I hope we haven't completely lost the mentality that we can compete with any team in the country... because I think Dixon believed that and convinced other players of it last year.

some folks just can't admit that the intangibles from dixon are missing from our offense because they want so damn badly to be right. i think we miss him more from confidence and leadership. he simply made everyone else look better and was an energizing force on the team.

and i am definitely wanting to know who the guy is going to be that steps into that role. damn it we need it saturday and for the rest of the season.

and Dixon was good for yards.I'm sure Dixon's intangibles were good, but I miss his tangibles. Having a guy that you can rely on to get the tough yard makes a big difference.

Everytime Dixon touched the ball he expected to score. Call it confidence, cockiness, arrogance, or whatever but everytime he put his hands on it he intended to take it to the house or punish someone who got in his way.

Currently we don't have that on this team.

Ala Bumphis immediately running out of bounds on the sweeps and swing passes. Sometimes you gotta cut it back into the center of the field. Yeah you'll get your nose bloodied here and there, but you;ll also break one here or there.
Ala Robert Elliot and the way he runs it all the time. He's built so that he could break tackles but he gets what he can and then goes down.

We need a guy who dares people to try and bring him down.

Listen to the what Dixon says during interviews even now (if you can understand him). He's in the NFL as a rookie and he's calling out corners saying **** like "dem corners day dont wanna be seein me out in the open field". Its a mentality thats puts players a step above.

i like the hell out of his tangibles too but you can have someone great on your team, who gains all sorts of yards, who is a real jackass and a virus on the team. one of those attention ***** NFL wide receivers for example (take your pick). but when you have someone with the tangibles and the leadership/swagger/confidence/whatever on top of that, then you have something that an offense misses, something they were feeding off of, something that is hard to replace. you don't always get both but when you do it is, in my opinion, much better than just having a good back.

Dixon's not getting hit until 5 and 7 yards down field, when he's the only one the D should be worried about. Not all of that can be due to Dixon. If our O'line can still push like that against mediocre defensive lines, we should be fine this year, fine being 6 wins(shouldn't we?).Slightly disappointed in 6 wins, as I thought 7 was doable, but six wins would still be beating everybody we have more talent than (for the second year in a row, with possibly the exception of houston). If we beatthe teams we're supposed to beat over the next few years when we have an easier schedule and we should be have some good years.

I voted for Tyson Lee. Why? He never should have been put in position to be a starting QB in the SEC. Thanks Sylvester!

Despite being grossly undersized, Lee went out and gave 110% of everything he had to offer, every play. Was his best good enough? Of course not. Was his effort? It was exceptional. Lee got beaten like a pinata his junior year because of a pourus offensive line, and still got hit many times his senior year. When you are 6'3" 250, like Tebow, you can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. When you are 5'9" 185, its a dramatically different story.

I will give Croom this, he said that when Dixon decided to play as good as Croom knew he could play, Dixon would be incredible. I believe Croom told Dixon that he left 500 yards on the table his sophomore year because he basically wasn't trying his best. When Dixon finally "got it", he led the SEC, including the Heisman trophy winner Mark Ingram.

Lee had to give his best every snap to live, Dixon coasted on raw talent three years.

Glad my 252 video is still getting love, its my favorite in the collection as well.
