At least Murray Warmath, Darrell Royal, and Bob Tyler all coached other Division I football teams after leaving MSU. The last time an Auburn head football coach coached another Division I team after leaving Auburn was the 1940s.

Shug Jordan coached there 25 seasons. Retired
Doug Barfield coached there 5 seasons. Sucked.
Pat Dye coached there 12 seasons. Retired.
Tommy Tuberville coached there 10 seasons. Presently getting $2.6 million/year severance pay for the few years. If I were him, I'd sit on my *** for a year or two and maybe score a broadcast gig with ESPN.

Seems to me that 4 coaches over 58 seasons is pretty stable.

Since Jordan, they've been sorta similar to us, Just won more.

Tenn. has had the stability, 2 coaches over 31 years.

No ex-head coach from AU has gone directly to another HC job. Since 1946, none. Maroon Eagle is right.

Carl Voyles moved from being head coach of Auburn in 1947 to the Brooklyn Dodgers of the old All-American Football Conference in 1948.

Jack Meagher coached the Tigers in 1942 and the following year was at Iowa Pre-Flight, which played the equivalent of a Division I schedule during World War II.

The last Auburn head coach to coach at a Division I college was Chet Wynne who left Auburn after the 1933 season for Kentucky.
