Warren Buffets current net worth is 66.7 billion.

I think the highest ncaa football coach is payed 7 million a year?

so that .7 billion is 700 million right?
so why can't warren spend 10 million on a NU coach every year?
would that be legal? and tax deductible???
we could put coke and dairy queen ads all over too.

Im not sure what the hold-up is?
That would be like me having $66.70 and giving Dear ole Nebraska U a dime.

Warren has been notoriously tight with his money when it comes to Nebraska. Cripes, the guy doesn't even pay for his ticket when he attends games in someone else's luxury suite.

People assume he's giving money anonymously behind the scenes, but in the nine years I was on staff at UNL I can assure you that was definitely NOT happening. Not even at the business school, where other alumni have been very generous.

Warren is going to solve big problems around the world with his foundation and giving pledge, and that is honorable. But for some reason he doesn't think UNL worthy of his money, even though only 1% of it would completely change the quality of education there for generations to come.

Warren has pledged to give all his money away.. I think it goes to the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation.. To be honest, I'm not sure charities actually spend money that wisely, and some are known as straight up tax shelters.

Regardless, I don't think money is a problem here.

The coaching staff has to run their system. They aren't going to do very well running this smorgasbord type thing, and they won't be successful running NU's old option or running game either.

The good side is, Riley and company are good talent evaluators, and will get guys in to run their system, and things will get better in time.

The bad side is, just about the time we get all that in place, the guy will probably retire.

sure.. it has to go through a 'donation' to the university, but like anything else, if you pay off enough people, a person with enough money can get pretty much anything they want

I surprised some big shot just doesn't buy the best coaches then. gates would have myer in washington and buffet would have saben in lincoln..

they could be cheap on the other things in life.

lol.. that sure would be something.. the thing is, those super rich guys care more about making money than they do about football..

Also, in the grand scheme, figuring out new ways to feed people or desalinate water is more worthy of giving money to over a football program.

feeding people is easy, you teach them how to fish so they can feed themselves.
basic calvinist capitalism…not rand capitalism or marx socialism…

desalinating water is also easy…nature does it and puts it in rivers and lakes.

political rant over…Cool

We don't need Buffet's money. However, if he knows how to get first downs with the game on the line, or stop the other team's offense with the game on the line, then someone should certainly give him a call...
