Legalizing pot...

Meaning, you believe smoking marijuana can cause someone to shoot heroin?
I believe it is a gateway drug for some. Everybody is not the same and we are all wired differently. I believe that some folks-because of genetics-become alcoholics when they take their first drinks. I know people that smoke pot and they do fine. Same with alcohol, but many cannot. My wife's sister and her husband have jobs and a business, but are drunk every day of the week. I don't do drugs, drink very little (bourbob-rum) ...hate beer and cigs. Just seems like a miserable way to live.

I smoke pot and sip bourbon. Don't even smoke cigs unless I'm beyond hammered drunk which never happens

So sounds like you are saying other legal substances can be gateways?

No...I don't think alcoholics normally become druggies. I think cigs are stupid just like dope. I am perfectly being happy being free of zero vices except the CATS AND my wife!!!

Sensitive got sensitive.

Correct...I'm sensitive because I believe it's way over the line to attack a poster's family member who doesn't have a chance to defend himself [eyeroll]. Not to mention it's pretty obvious that poster has done everything he can as a father to help his child.

I disagree with a lot of what slugger says about weed being a gateway, but I *can* understand where he's coming from and have some sympathy towards his situation.

There is a time and place on here to talk ish about each other's lives which is all good and well considering it's expected in those respective threads. Going at a family member is total bush league even in the confines of GYERO or D-League.

Take a break from shoveling McDoubles down your fat, sloppy, face and learn situational awareness.

Marijuana was a gateway drug for alot of drug addicts and criminals not so much the drug specific recreational users who can control their use and maintain their lives while using. Not a gateway for ALL but certainly ALOT. I could care less If its legalized or not, there are pros and cons to both sides.

Why is marijuana so frequently referred to as a 'gateway' drug (nevermind the faulty logic), but we rarely hear the same thing about alcohol? Clearly alcohol is more of a gateway drug than marijuana ever will be.

As a former weed smoker (quit over 30 years ago), I do think that weed lowers you inhibitions and makes you more likely to try another drug while high. Alcohol does the same thing in my mind. Not sure if that makes it a gateway drug or not. Not everyone that tries a drug is hooked after the first time. Some are though.

I definitely play ball harder when Im high. I can't shoot as good but I can get to the rack and play a lot better defense.

<---- just now actually reading the thread see all these references to "slugger" and got confused. Just realized I have that poster on ignore. Conversation was very confusing.

Through my time in college and in my professional years I've known a lot of people that smoke weed. The people that smoked in college, sat on the couch, watched tv all day, didn't go to class, failed out, and so on were lazy POSs when they WEREN'T high. The weed didn't make em lazy... their lazy made it ok for em to smoke weed IMO. I've also known people with families of their own that smoke every day and are some of the most productive people when high. One guy built the back deck to his house while high the entire time. Some of these folks will get high and clean their entire house. Some others will get high and sit in one spot for 3 hours while barely mustering the energy to blink.

Don't know if it's a gateway or not, but CAN say with fair certainty that it doesn't turn people into lazy hunks of crap. Those people were likely lazy hunks of crap before and the weed just magnifies it. All the people I've ever known that smoked also ONLY smoked. They weren't sneaking coke, heroine, meth, etc and they had been all smoking for well over 10 years.
My heart is broken and my day is ruined. Hell I may go commit suicide

^^^^^^Go to an Otis game and it will make you even resentful of being around a drunk:football::football::football:

I used to be one (a drunk) and then I got sober. I found out that hanging with my drunk buddies was the opposite of fun when I was sober. Just a bunch of loud conversation about nothing.

I went to one OTS football game with my dad in the early 00s. We got beer dumped on us for presumably wearing the wrong colors. I've never been back there.

How do we jump from smoking a little bud on the porch with friends and chilling on a Saturday night to smoking angel dust? That's the leap of the century to get there. I know doctors that smoke weed.

Every adult should smoke a little weed from time to time. It would probably do ya'll some good

Why do I envision a drunk and a stoner sitting around an Operation game with constant bzzzzzz sound?

Go ahead an laugh, but I know for a FACT that a Jr. Mint dropped inside you during surgery will aid in your recovery. I don't know about Cheetos.

If only I had the mighty mind of LEK to point out the fallacy of your statement. I have no children because I have always been aware of the weight of their burden.

I only speak for myself, unless I realize someone needs me to speak for them. Anyway, smoking a joint in front of a kid is no different than smoking a cigarette. The feeling to you is different, the image to them is the same.

Lol it's LEK, he's the smartest dude on the paddock didn't ya know?

Son, sitting around giggling at "Good Burger", downing Doritos and Yoohoo and rocking out on your bongo drum to 80s metal bands in your Nag Champa infused Baja hoodie is no way to go through life. The first step is admitting you have a problem and then turning your life over to God. I suggest a nice flat top buzz cut, tie and blazer and some sort of leather shoes that dont show your toes. If you act now there is hope that you might avoid a full blown addiction to heroin.

2/10 as far as a rebuttal. His was much funnier.

Colorado seems to be working out great(making a funny here), but I think I read where you can still buy it cheaper on the market than in the store. I don't understand those who are more obsessed with legalizing drugs than in the country going to hell in a hand basket and drugs are a major part of the problem...And please don't tell me I don't have a clue. When you have a son who is a heroin addict and you have to deal with it then you can come back and talk to me. And yes, he started his journey by smoking pot.

Sounds like your son made some bad decisions. It's not pots fault. He needs to accept responsibility for his actions.

Away with this "disease" Bologna

Your son being a heroin addict has nothing to do with pot lol. Also, I hope he isn't one of the users who leave their dirty needles all over parking lots and bathrooms that seems to be common these days in parts of Louisville

Funny I raised four of them and he is the only one. You must not have children. I was a denier for a long time because he has been scared to death of needles his entire life , but he told me the first time he did it was over. It took me a long time to realize that I cannot save him and I have finally let it go and am prepared for whatever happens in his life. We have been thru a lot and it is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

I overcame my addictions (alcohol) and he can too. Know what I did? Stopped with the victims "it's over I have to have it" mentality. Everyone saying its a disease ... That's what enables addicts.

MJ should be legal. I take part in it from time to time.

Heroin can be a hellish WD, but if he were to go to one of the dozens of places that offer WD services.... After a week the physical part is done and from there it's all mental. THAT is his fault/ not pots.
