People in middleburg aren’t “ranchers”. Rode my gravel bike out there a lot and always wondered where his place was.

he was also a very accomplished tango dancer and aficionado.

my favorite sleeper Duvall movie was the apostle.

You know what I mean - he kept and rode horses.

I know but it’s like the other night when my wife had me watching port on pbs, and one of the characters described himself as a “simple country squire”.

the people out there are “horse people”. Great little town and south loudoun county is beautiful. Just miles and miles of empty unpaved roads

True grit, lucky Ned.Joe Kidd, gone in 60 seconds, eagle has landed, mash Frank burns, gods and generals as general Lee, falling down. Jack reacher, sling blade. Some of his other roles not listed which were good.

One of my favorite quote of his was in the movie Colors with Sean Penn. Screw substituted for the 4 letter variety.

"There's two bulls standing on top of a mountain. The younger one says to the older one: 'Hey pop, let's say we run down there and screw one of them cows.' The older one says: 'No son. Let's walk down and screw 'em all.'"

Their place is on the west side of Halfway Rd, Rt626, that runs between Middleburg and The Plains. He and his wife used to get brunch at Girasole in The Plains on Sundays when she was in town.

There aren’t many more pleasing places to the eye than classic “horse country”. My brother and his wife live in a restored farm house west of Unionville, PA and there are horse farms all around them. Perfect place to walk out the door and walk/bike down quiet country roads and clear your mind.

Every plot of land east of 15 is being bought for data centers. Horrible. Glad the blue bloods west (Middleburg, Upperville, etc) have shot all that crap down.

I’ve actually ridden past that. Who knew.

My all time favorite Duvall scene occurred in the seldom mentioned Phenomenon (a movie I liked a lot):

I forgot he was the original Frank Burns.
