He led Powell Valley to 7 of their 8 state championships. He coached there from 1983-2010. Prayers for his family and the community.

Was he there during the Thomas Jones era? (I think I have that name right....the running back that went to UVA?) PV was awesome there for a while.
Yep. Thomas was part of the '94 and '95 championships and his brother Julius was there for the '97 and '98 championships.
If my old foggy memory serves me right, I may have seen them as many as three times when they came up this way. Once at VMI, once at Harrisonburg High School, and once at Western Albemarle High School. All of those would have been regional or state semi-final games I think.

I could be wrong....I just remember going once to a neutral game at VMI, but it could have been someone completely different.
