Legitimate threats from the East to take 3A?

Was choosing my Greyhounds at one point, but right now, they're showing a lack of depth/plenty of youth. Be lucky to win ONE game this year.

Hopewell again?

It can’t be that bad, can it? How do they go from title contender to possibly not winning a game in less than a month?

Petersburg may be a sleeper.
Petersburg is the real deal. But depth is a problem for them.

We will certainly have a better idea about the Crimson Wave after their matchup this Friday Night against the Hopewell Blue Devils.

Petersburg's Coach Scott is doing a fantastic job. And with his son maturing at QB, Hopewell better not come in flat. They could easily be carting home the "L" if the don't bring their A game.

The only other team that I have a high confidence in is Phoebus.

If you were asking strictly about Class 3, Region A, I kind of messed up your thread. Sorry

I agree. Depth is always a big concern but isn’t as big of a concern at the 3a level as it is for 4a, 5a and 6a. The 09 Bruton team had I think 21 players on the team and was one of the toughest teams I’ve ever seen on the high school level. Those 2 Magna Vista state championship teams had many 2 way players and Hopewell usually has low numbers and are contenders year in and year out. I’d love to see the Crimson Wave make some noise and play in December. I believe they have the team and the schedule to prepare them to do it. Their D seems to be pretty stout (hasn’t been tested yet but Dinwiddie and Hopewell will be good measuring sticks) and Upton Bailey is the real deal on offense. Hopefully the RTD will promote the Petersburg/Hopewell game this week!

To be the man you have to beat the man

I totally agree and that's how it should be but I will say that Phoebus is coming. I wish both teams the best on the rest on the season. Don't sleep on Booker T. Washington or York either. Both are much improved from a year ago.

Phoebus is definitely a contender. Could have easily win the LT game. I see them in at least the semifinals

Phoebus Lost in the last seconds to LT BUT beat Woodside (6A) last night. To this date the Wolverines are the only school to play a respectable game against Highland Springs this year!
