The guy has been the coach here for two full seasons. Here is what he has done.

109-35 overall record
40-20 SEC record
SECW Co-champs 2019
Two national seeds
10-1 in regional/super regional play
Two Omaha trips

You cannot ask for any more than that.

It’s a huge testament that he was able to drag this team to the finish line. There are a lot of holes with this team but they are tough when toughness is needed the most.

Yes! I deliberately stayed off until the game was over so I would not make dumb comments like I did last night. But I agree. And maybe Cohen was a prophet when he said State would hire a Coach who had been to multiple CWS. Because Lemonis has now taken MSU to “multiple CWS!”

Great job Coaches and Team !

Dude knows baseball. I’ll still question him here n there, because I can and it don’t matter. He is one helluva baseball coach. I’m thankful he’s ours! Go win it all coach!!

Definitely past time to sweeten the pot for him for the long haul. That’s the first process to get started before we even get on the plane to Omaha.

This is a true statement. This is our least complete team to make the trip to Omaha, but you gotta feel good about their chances because they are so Mother 17ng tough. The fight is strong in this group of Dawgs.

They were the lack of a third starter, an offensive black hole at first base, an offensive black hole at short, a weak bat at second, a weak bat (really just slumping) and bad defense at third base. Maybe a question of who is reliable out of the pen other than sims but I don’t think that was ever really a hole Compared to any other team.

Now, Harding has established himself as our third starter, James has been hitting better, Dubrule has been steadily hitting better for a while, putting Hancock at first and getting Clark and Cumbest at bats helped first and the offense in general. Not sure having one bad bat in the lineup who plays good defense is really a hole. Don’t know that we have any hole as much as just relative weaknesses. We are really solid as a whole. The only dominant part of our game is sims. We have good but not dominant starting pitching. We have good not really good offense. Our defense is average. Nothing that just screams Achilles heel and it seems like we’re pretty easily one of the top 8 teams in the country and not just a fluke team that got hot.

Error-prone at 3rd, not consistently strong 6-9 batting (which means if you shut down the top of the order we're easy pickings), starting pitching inconsistent. These are the holes.

Our positives are that State has a very strong pitching middle and closing relief staff. The pitching staff gives State a puncher's chance in the CWS. Not only that, but what was mentioned here before- those dudes are some of the toughest players I've ever seen at State.

One of the things I love about Lemonis is that he’s an active coach that makes moves at times that leave you scratching your head, but 9 times out of 10, he proves that he made the right move. Even when things blow up a bit like with Simmons last night, you can’t argue that it was a bad decision to bring in a 95-96 mph right hander after 4 innings of Harding.

Those ND kids must sit in a batting cage taking 95 mph fastballs for 2hrs/day each because I haven’t seen many lineups that can flat out rake fastballs like that while letting pretty much anything else go without a swing.

I really don’t think Stone Simmons pitched that bad tonight. He needs to tunnel his breaking ball better and develop and third pitch against lefties, but Simmons was throwing 94 MPH two seamers with really good movement. I think he will be a big part of our staff next year.

Sometimes the others guys just hit you, and ND has a top three lineup in America.

He's a south carolina boy through and through. Born and raised myrtle beach and went to the citadel. Incidentally, the citadel has a reputation for graduating some top notch leaders.

The 07 team was by far our least qualified team to get there. They way overachieved.

Plus having a single get turned into a triple was bad luck to start off. He's basically a freshman as far as major college experience, and lots of pitchers struggle after an error in the field, so there's something to be said for just keeping it together after that. He did walk one, but he struck out two and as you said, it's not like he threw batting practice to the others.

I highly doubt most other coaches would consider this team full of holes. Sure who wouldn't want 3 lights out starters and 9 guys batting .350 but get serious. This is a pretty solid team end to end. The pitching is up and down at times

top-8 national seed

To win a national title you need to get to Omaha where you have roughly a 1/8 chance to win it all. You should have roughly 1 national title for every 8 trips to Omaha. In the Super Regional era we have been 4 times, not counting this year.

To get to Omaha you need to host Regionals/Super Regionals. Your trips to Omaha should roughly correspond to your number of hosted Supers. Your Super Regional appearances should roughly correspond to your number of hosted Regionals. This is because even though you may drop an event at home, you'll probably pick some up on the road as well. We are in plus territory because we generally take care of business at home, and we're a good road team in the postseason:

Other than bracket chaos, the way you host Regionals/Super Regionals is by being a top-8 national seed. In the quest for our first national title, I think that is what our program has been missing. Before Lemonis: 1 top-8 national seed in 20 years. Lemonis has lead us to a top-8 national seed in 2 out of 2 years. If Lemonis continues to bring frequent top-8 seeds to go along with our + postseason performance, we are going to Omaha a lot. And it's only a matter of time before we do the one thing we've all been waiting on.

This is what being a blue blood feels like. We don't get it anytime of the year but baseball season. Fans expect a lot, and they should. Bitching about this or that comes with it. The whole bunch deserved criticism the way they ended the season. Now, they deserve praise for turning it the other way. Enjoy being a 17ing blue blood!

A lot of people (myself included) were a bit underwhelmed when Lemonis was first hired because of the expectations Cohen set during the search. Everyone was dead wrong. Lemonis is a star.
