I know absolutely nothing about this guy. What are everyone's thought? Good, bad, indifferent?

depending on what his responsibilites will be. he's been getting some press down here b/c he's connected with the new USA football team. all the assisstants have been getting publicity.
dunno if its a good thing to cherry-pick a team that doesnt officially exist yet, though...
the wiki page on this guy was funny, though.

Got his *** run out of Texas A@M . He had Texas most prolific Passer in Highschool and tried to make him an option QB. Not impressed / surprised Byrnes Dad did not squash this Hire.

his advice might not be that sound.

And to me, any coaching hire is a crap shoot. Fun to speculate but it sounds like to me, if the article that is linked on wikipedia, Franchione had more of a say in the type of offense they ran than Koenning.

and he really believed that Byrne didn't want to hire Sherman, but that outside influences made the call.

I thought it was interesting. Of course, if I was B. Byrne, I'd do everything I could to disclaim that hire.

Les is a good hire. He has a bright mind and will work his tail off recruiting. I wouldn't blame him for Fran at A&M, he was probably the guy who took some blame like Woody did for Croom. he will be a good fit at MSU and has been around enough to know the ropes in recruiting and how the thieves in Bama and Oxford work.
