Some of his interview with Dan Patrick:

How were you told you were fired?

Face to face. Joe Alleva said we’re going to have to make a change. And I’m for the tigers. Anything they see that makes the Tigers better, I’m for it. I accepted the outcome and will support that decision and these Tigers going forward

Did you try to fight it?

It was beyond fighting. The enjoyment of being here, the enjoyment of community, the experiences that my family’s had, it’s too important to fight over. It’s history. It’s what we were are. If they see a change makes the tiger better, I’m for them.

If you beat Auburn, would you still be employed?

I want you to know something. How that game ends, with the Tigers fighting for their breath, maybe there’s a way the coach could’ve got them a second more. I would argue that I made those moves. One second. It’s certainly a decision that was made more appropriately over more than a second.

Did you talk to your players?

I did and I appreciate Joe Alleva giving me that opportunity. I took advantage of it. I did not stay long, but wished them well. They deserve the best. I think Ed Orgeron will do a great job for them.

How tough is this job?

I think it’s a blast. I think coaching football and being with young players and developing them … taking a team into an opponent’s stadium and coming out with a victory (is a blast). I don’t think this job’s hard.

Do you do anything differently?

I always review everything. In certain things, we could’ve been better. I gave us a chance to win the game.

Do you want to coach again?

I don't golf, play no tennis. I enjoy shooting the gun, don't necessarily like pointing at animals. Play cards, but not very well. But what I've done for 12-14 hours a day for the last number of years is coach football. I'd have a difficult time not being a coach.

What would you tell your successor?

How fortunate you are to coach the LSU Tigers. Taking them to the field, walking into the home and representing them.

Looks like Miles is paid nearly $13 million to walk away.

Cam Cameron signed a three year extension last spring for $1.3 million/per. Only problem was, it had a "Miles clause" that said if you get fired with Less, tough luck.

I'll always remember when we beat them, and Coach Miles was nothing but complimentary and classy in his post game interview. I don't know if I would want him as our coach, but if I had a kid that had the opportunity to play D1 football, he would be the one I would want as role model for my kid.

I heard it and agree 100%...absolute class. Especially considering he was fired less than 24 hours before the interview!

Personally, I think LSU might be making the same mistake now as they did when they fired Chollie Mac because he couldn't quite win "enough" for their AL envious fan base. Five coaches over next 20 years after firing Chollie.

Peace

Without Les Miles I wouldn't even know that the bounce pass fake field goal was a real play.

I didn't know there was that much money in Louisiana.

Its like a former college coach recently told me - with the revenue the SECN is generating, buy-outs aren't an issue. Even at LSU where funding is always dependent on the price of oil and gas.

I think he knew the writing was on the wall from last season, and a 12 million dollar buyout can't hurt too badly. He'll get another job with no problem, be filthy rich, and maybe, just maybe, get to coach without the pressure of having to be a title contender every year. Could end up back at OK St if they start crashing this year.

If Miles would use embrase aa 2016 offensive scheme he wouldn't be out of a job today... Certainly has the horses

The moment he was fired was the moment he hit the "Lottery". Set for life with a good financial adviser. He probably was already set for life though.

Like Georgia with Mark Richt perhaps. We'll see if Kirby can get things going there. I think he will, but will it be enough?
