Otherwise, what's the point? Are folks really getting self worth off their follower count?

Sometimes yes there's money attached to it but I'm pointing out how crazy and stupid twitter can be. He made one "tweet" and it became a national frenzy for 24 hours. That's nuts. He wasn't a well known figure with a bunch of followers. Just a dude with 250 followers who sent one tweet. Then everyone is saying Les Miles cheated on his wife only a few hours later. Millions of people were talking about something some dude in Kentucky started by accident. That's mind-boggling to me.
