Surely they are. I mean, you've got to win the first game to even make it to the winners bracket game. That's why all the teams that advance consistently always pitch their ace in the first game.

A lot of #1 seeds do not pitch their ace against a #4 .....

depending on their draw. For example, its unlikely that we would have pitched Graveman if we'd drawn JSU instead of Central Ark.

I forgot to use the sarcasterisks. And it's still a mistake to pitch Graveman. We should still win the regional anyway, but you're better off using your ace against the best team you will face. That isn't the MSU way though.

Graveman isn't our ace. Ross Mitchell is. And it looks like we're saving him for the best team we'll face.

This is a pointless discussion, but we beat South Alabama at home this year, and UCA beat us two out of three in Starkville. I understand RPI, etc., but those facts alone make it reasonable to assume UCA is just as big of a threat to beat us as South Alabama.

We are saving our Friday night starter for Game 2.

And we're throwing a guy who is 5-5 tonight, and saving a guy who is 6-3 for tomorrow.
