Just in case he decides to go elsewhere.
1. He never committed to us, therefore, he did not screw us over. We were not "entitled" to Cam Newton.
2. He did not "string Mullen along." He just visited various schools and chose the one that he felt best suited him.
3. At no time during the process should we have pulled his offer because "we want people that want to be here."
4. We wanted him.
5. It is not the end of the world. We actually have a backup plan this time with a bonifide scholarship QB in Russell.
6. It is ok to hope Pernell McPhee ends his career if he goes to Auburn. This is not because Auburn stole Newton from us - it is because I hope McPhee does that to every QB we play (well, not literally end their career, but you get the point).
7. You have no reason to be mad at Newton, Auburn, Mullen, etc. It is what it is.
Maybe this will cull some of the inevitable stupidity that will surface if Newton signs with Auburn. Believe me, I want Newton as much - if not more - than anyone, but I can totally understand why he might choose Auburn over us. I really think our programs are very comparable at this point. Auburn won some of the games this year that we could not pull out, but they are not that much better than us right now. They do have winning tradition on their side, however, and that is what will sway Newton in the end, should he decide to go there.
