Just in case he decides to go elsewhere.

1. He never committed to us, therefore, he did not screw us over. We were not "entitled" to Cam Newton.
2. He did not "string Mullen along." He just visited various schools and chose the one that he felt best suited him.
3. At no time during the process should we have pulled his offer because "we want people that want to be here."
4. We wanted him.
5. It is not the end of the world. We actually have a backup plan this time with a bonifide scholarship QB in Russell.
6. It is ok to hope Pernell McPhee ends his career if he goes to Auburn. This is not because Auburn stole Newton from us - it is because I hope McPhee does that to every QB we play (well, not literally end their career, but you get the point).
7. You have no reason to be mad at Newton, Auburn, Mullen, etc. It is what it is.

Maybe this will cull some of the inevitable stupidity that will surface if Newton signs with Auburn. Believe me, I want Newton as much - if not more - than anyone, but I can totally understand why he might choose Auburn over us. I really think our programs are very comparable at this point. Auburn won some of the games this year that we could not pull out, but they are not that much better than us right now. They do have winning tradition on their side, however, and that is what will sway Newton in the end, should he decide to go there.

This was posted by one of the sheep.

"According to 5 UF players who played with Cam, as of today his rank in terms of his top 3 schools are as follows:"

1. Miss St.
2. Oklahoma
3. Auburn

If this were actually true it would be game over.

is what I think is the most frustrating. I agree with all that you said. But it does sting that Auburn swoops in at the last minute and takes a guy we've been working for months (IF he signs there).

Now, that being said, he could have been getting recruited by Auburn this whole time, as yo-yo and secretive as his recruitment has been. Nobody even knew if he had an offer from us for the longest time. He's enjoying the process a little more than most, and I truly believe he thinks he's better than he is. Oh well it's worth it to wait it out a few more days. And hell who knows I actually still think we lead for him.

take it personal on where a youngster decides to go play, based on our history of not being able to get strong play out of the QB position, and the relationship mullen has with cam, to lose him to au like this would suck big time...

especially after he rang that cowbell at that exciting game...

it will blow my mind if he signs with AU...

8. Just because he chooses another school over us, wants playing time and a chance to showcase his talents for the NFL DOES NOT mean he is a primadonna, selfish, cocky or conceited. He is just trying to do what is best for him. Totally understandable.

but because he is a primadonna. His dad might be the one that turns out to be the level headed one.

Not sure how you got that out of my post.

this extremely hot chick dates this guy you know. they go through a rough breakup, and she finds a rebound guy (blinn). after she's recovered from the breakup through her shoulder to cry on, she's scouting potential new legit boyfriends, and remembers seeing you at a party with her ex one time and thought you were cute. she goes out on a date with you, and she's going on and on about how it was a great first date. then a week or two later after a few late night phone calls with her, she states she's since gone out on a date with your cousin who's known to have a huge wang, as well as she's gone out with a very good looking pre-med student who's top in their class, and has said she had fun with them. Still, she never really made it official with you so you can't say **** or get pissed no matter how jealous you might be. You hang around, hoping that your good time with her will trump the other dudes and that she was sincere when she talked about how much fun she had with you, or you might just be in the friends zone.

I won't be made at Newton and I won't be mad at Mullen. I can't blame somebody for making a decision based on what he thinks is best for his future. However, I don't have to base my hatred of a SEC divisional opponent based on anything rational. Irrational hatred of competing programs is what makes college football fun. I've been pretty indifferent to Auburn over the past several years. If he ends up there, I will use that as my motive for hating Auburn again whether it's fair, or not.

I heard another reason she broke up with her ex-boyfriend was because he was wearing jorts (or sheans) and a starter jacket.

But the cousin is lost its Cox to graduation and we still have our Cox (and our Cox is bigger than their Cox anyway).

Ok...I am going to stop now.

Let me be sappy for a minute:

I won't say being a preacher automatically guarantees that person is free of being a shady character or isn't predisposed to demanding attention or a handout. However, it seems that many have jumped to the conclusion that Daddy Newton is looking for a handout.

But, couldn't it be that his dad might simply be a big influence and confidant in his life - somebody Cam looks to for advice? I'm not accusing you because I find myself making the same assumption, but it's sad that we automatically assume that when a high-profile athlete has their parent heavily involved in their recruitment that the parents have their hands out. Parental involvement should be a good thing - not twisted into negative. Especially this day and age where it's not exactly uncommon that children grow up in fatherless homes.

They fell apart there towards the end of the season with losses to Kentucky (21-14), blow-out loss to LSU (31-10), Arkansas (44-23), and loss to Georgia (31-24). I know they played Bama close. Their defense played sub par.

Their recruiting class looks nice. I noticed that they have 26 commits so far. Isnt there a rule that a school can only sign 28 prospects? They have a hand full prospects that have a high interest but haven't committed yet. They only have room to 2 more. Do they room for Newton? I guess so if they want him badly enough.

ask Ole Miss who signed 37 last year, maybe they know the limit

however, you can only award 25 scholarships in a recruiting class

if they sign in december. Newton would likely count back and not in the Feb 2010 class.

chizik has assembled a really good recruiting staff and they have one of the top OC's in the country.

It really happened. I thought surely those rumors I heard weren't true. They're not that stupid, are they? Yes, they are. I was wrong.
