I remember when Dookie V was pushing for Clappy to be the new UK coach. I don't remember any specific posters who wanted the idiot.

Remember when:

"We don't need no 5 stars to win!"

"Recruiting has changed. The top players don't want to go to the same school anymore!"

"High School rankings are worthless!"

"This is the age of parity. No one team will dominate any more!"

I do not recall that at all. I remember this board and the CBS boards not being very kind to the suggestion of Calipari which I was all about (on my mother's life) when we hired Billy G. I remember you had the typical idiots wanting Ford and Pelphrey then calls for Donovan, Izzo, Jay Wright, and I can't remember who else. But the only Crean stuff I remember was from the media.

I remember the days of fans hoping Paul Fleming picked us over Hawaii.

Remember when they use to sneak Big Mac's through the window for Turp?
Remember when Gunther Behnke went back home?
Remember when Shawn Kemp was almost a Cat?
Remember when Richie was actually respected?

I'm old.

I dont recall ANYONE on this board wanting Crean. I do however, remember a lot of grumblings about possibly hiring him, as that was a name we heard- just from no one here or any reasonable UK fan.

Been there and done that lol I'm not an Indiana fan, but thought they made a good choice. Not really sure it was a mistake either . He is above and beyond his two predecessors .jmho

Remember when Pitino didn't look like he was a poor mans Bela Lugosi, and that anytime someone mentioned 15 seconds, you didn't automatically break out into laughter and think of him?

That number shrunk to a miniscule number once people recognized that it was actually a possibility.

I remember the days when many people said that UK would never be the "IT" program again and that we simply need to accept our place as a pretty good basketball program. Actually, one of those people hosts a daily UK-centric radio show.

We had a recruiting class consisting of Morakinyo Williams and A.J. Stewart, and one of Jared Carter, Rekalin Sims, and Adam Williams, and when the one kid chose Prep School over us?

Remember when we were excited at the prospect of K.C. Ross-Miller as our point guard?

Remember when we averaged about 2-3 lobs per season?

Remember when basketball shorts were so short it was obscene?

Remember Pitino's press conference when he was hired at UK and how excited we all were?

Remember Pitino's last few years at UK and how he would never squelch the NBA rumors and many of us, including myself, said, "Just go then!"

Remember when Joe B retired and the idea of having a new coach at UK was surreal?

Remember when Billy Gillispie cried at Bill Keightley's funeral and we all thought to ourselves, "He gets it"

Remember when Darius Miller slammed home that lob from Lamb versus St. Johns? Yeah, so do I.

Remember the beautiful court chemistry between Hayes and Daniels?

One of my all-time favorite gutter moments on this board was the debate over Hunter McClintock on whether we should offer or not.

UK fans had no internet(Cats Illustrated, KSR, Twitter, etc.). We had to depend on The Herald-Leader, Courier Journal, The Cats Pause, radio shows, the coaches show and the local TV stations for any tidbit of info about the Wildcats.

How did we ever make it?? WOW, that seems like sooooo loooong ago!!!

That was a pretty reasonable assumption. Who really thought that Cal would take us to the heights that he did? I thought we'd win another title and similar on court success, but I never expected the media love we're getting this year. I didn't think we'd be the IT program because there is UK bias in the media. Texas Western, 'running tubby off', playing in the SEC, no star in state players, etc, were all hurdles I didn't know if we'd overcome. We've been the IT program for players for 5 years. Public perception is finally catching up.

This is Cal's masterpiece. Not just on court success, but winning over the crusty media.

Hunter McClintock - sounds like a bad cop show from the 70's.

Willie Kemp, who went to Memphis. There was also a "T" in that list, the Thompson kid that went to UNC with Brendan Wright.

Remember when:

The Runts could pass the ball almost like the Harlem Globetrotters

Pistol Pete could do stuff the Harlem Globetrotters wouldn't try

The Fly is open let's go Peay
