After listening to Roger Goodell this morning on Mike & Mike I'm convinced he's about to drop the hammer on Roethlisberger. I'm going 8 games, reduced to 6.

...I wouldn't be surprised if there's a futuremandate that all bodyguards hired by NFL players pass muster withthe security policies of NFL teams and the league itself.

I think what Goodell is doing is great. He's gonna set the tone that even high profile guys won't get special treatment. </p>

I think what he is doing sucks and that if a player doesnt break any laws or anything within their team's contract, then they shouldnt be suspended for something that is vaguely defined and that can be applied to situations when desired instead of when necessary.

I understand the NFL is an organization and has conduct rules etc etc etc. But beyond bad press, what did he do to hurt the NFL or tarnish some great image of an NFL player?

So being investigated for something leaves a checkmark on your record in the eyes of the NFL and adds up for possible suspensions?

....you don't have to break any laws to be suspended or fired.

Ask Marv Albert, Howard Cossell and Harold Reynolds just to name a few.

make a lot of money working in the NFL. They also get a lot of perks that "normal" guys don't get.

With that comes consequences, this is one of them. No he didn't get charged with any crime. But being who he is and what he does, he is going to be treated differently for good or worse.

With that said, as a personal note....

"Big Ben" is obviously a piece of **** for a human.

If the NFLrelies heavily on image to be successful, then just imagine how dominant the could be in terms of financial success if they actually had a good image.
Seriously, they are successful in spite ofimage.

Im aSteeler fan from birth and totally think Ben is afriggin moron for the crap he has pulled. Motorcycle accident, even getting invovled with that hotel chick, andnow this girl.

Fan or no fan of the team, he is a jackass for allowing himself to be invovled. But suspension? Seriously? Suspended for NOT breaking the law? Any high profile player can be accused of doing something wrong and it will be ALL OVER the internet and ESPN for weeks. That precious image will be tarnished for weeks on end, even if theyend up nothaving done anything wrong.
Suspension for them not doing anything wrong seems justifiable. Yep, makes perfect sense.

He wasnt convicted, he wasnt tried...hell he wasnt even arrested. The actually had a press conference to say that he wouldnt be charged. How often does that happen?
Point is,legal bad judgement is hardly something to be suspended for.

Crap man, Ray Lewis wasnt even suspended for being arrested and tried for MURDER. He flips on his buds and only receives probation and a large fine by the NFL.
Arrested and indicted for murder gets probation and a fine, but Ben noteven being arrestedshould geta suspension?
