I asked you boys about Richie Brown and the LB's yesterday. Maybe I will pick a few other spots to talk about every few days until spring ball gets here. Today, the big nasties. Tell me what you got.

We lose:
Gabe Jackson First rounder OG
Charles Siddoway RT

Those returning with experience:
Day back at C
Clausell back at LT
Several platooned at RG and got good experience including true frosh Jamaal Clayborn

Potentials in stock:
Desper-always excited to see him play. Looks like he has a some nasty to him
Malone-get him back from injury
Cole Carter-worked hard to keep him in recruiting
Beckwith-played some in platooning this year
Jake Thomas-the 4* from columbus that was a dandy dozen member
Justin Senior-Hargrave military, don't know much about it.
Damien Robinson
Kent Flowers-6'5" 300 has good size
Archie Muniz

I think you'll see a dip at OG, but we're deep there. It is so much easier to find a kid to play OG than OT, someone will step up inside. I know we really liked our two JUCO OLs that were committed until one bailed for USM. I'm assume the other one will break the two deep.

At one guard we'll certainly see a drop, but Malone coming back should at least make us better at the other. Hopefully...

I think we'll see Malone switch over to LG. My guess is:

LT - Clausell
LG - Malone/Flowers
C - Day
RG - Beckwith/Senior
RT - ? (JUCO)

No insider knowledge, but we have plenty of depth at OG.

Claiborne? I think you have to somehow get both Malone and Claiborne on the field at the same time...

no one thinks Desper will work his way in somewhere or is the center in waiting behind DD.

Just judging from last year I'd say our top 7 linemen will be (in no particular order):

OT: Clausell, Johnson (JUCO), Senior
OG: Malone, Beckwith, Clayborn
C: Day

Senior was the backup for Clausell this year. I don't see that changing unless he can win the starting job at RT.

I have no idea if Beckwith, Clayborn or Desper will backup Day. Hopefully we don't have to find out.

Muniz and Robinson have never done anything that convinces me they'll win a starting job, or even be top backup. You typically don't have to play more than 8 guys over the season on o-line unless there are injuries. I think those 7 I listed above will be the primary players, but it is nice to have veteran guys on the roster just in case.

Here ya go

Clayborn/Malone/Beckwith share 90% of the snaps at guard first day of spring. Clayborn is Gabe Jackson 2.0, guy is gna be a mainstay for the next three years. Wouldn't suprise me if he takes Beckwith's spot. Hope he does in fact.

Kent Flowers is gna be a good 6th man if you will. Not worried about our O line next season. We lose a tackle and things could get shaky though. Just to many unknowns.

There is a good bit of talk about bumping Malone out to tackle... no idea if it materializes or not.

That would give us an OL with a good bit of experience at all spots -- and takes the immediate pressure off of the JUCO. If he can handle it, then I'd think Malone would go back to RG. I think Clayborn is the heir apparent at the LG spot either way.

I think Beckwith is about to be done with school -- so there's no guarantee that he will come back. I certainly hope he does. We need him badly for depth purposes and there's no guarantee that Clayborn would beat him out for the starting spot.

I am very pleased with Clausell's progression. With that said, he was pretty awful his freshman year and had nowhere to go but up.

No one outside a total freak should ever play tackle in the SEC in year 1 and few should play in year 2. Clausell's baptism by fire was mostly on Croom for deciding we only needed to take 2 OL(1 contributor from each) in the 08 and 09 classes -- and Mullen whiffing on JUCOs in 2010. 2011 shouldn't be held against Clausell IMO.

Our eventual first rounder in Sherrod looked totally lost out there as a trSO in 08. Will never forget the beating he took in Oxford...

I like our pass blocking much better than our run blocking. Hopefully our new s&c coach can get more push out of them next season

Any insight on the move ...

of Warren from TE to OT? Is this just a spring experiment or 'insurance' while Jake Thomas and Kent Flowers develop?
Rufus Warren TE 6-7 265SO SQ Indianola, MS (Gentry HS)

I think it's more just that he was getting lost in the mix at TE while being our best attached blocker in that group -- so the move was kinda a natural one...
