I’m attending a wedding the night of the game. The ceremony will be over but the celebration will be ongoing. What’s the etiquette here? Is it okay to watch on my phone? Should I leave early? I dropped a hint to the bride (friend of my daughter) to see if there’s a TV onsite that will show the game.
Go make personal memories. The game will be forgotten by this time next year.

Agree...they'd have a pretty similar profile to a 10-2 PSU (if we did lose to Oregon and OSU).
PSU would have beat Indy, Iowa, and Nebraska and lost to higher ranked teams (OSU, Oregon) than ND (Miami, A&M)
ND would have bet USC.

If it comes down to ND or PSU I think it depends on who else in the BiG is selected. I doubt the committee would take a 5th BiG tem over ND.

It won’t come down to a choice between a 10-2 Psu and 10-2 nd

they both make it

If you go to the wedding, have fun at the wedding and forget about the game. Either record the game or look up the score later. But if you have to watch the game live, don't bother going to the wedding. I think it would be rude to be at the reception and staring at your phone or looking for a place to watch the game. Just my 2c
my recommendation:

Oh thank god, the 17th Oregon scouting report of the week just dropped. I was getting nervous that the Ducks might sneak into Beaver Stadium unnoticed, carrying 250 rushing yards and a 7-yard average in their back pockets like some kind of football heist crew.

Look, I love a good hype post as much as the next guy, but let’s pump the brakes on turning Dante Moore into the second coming of Joe Burrow because he threw 80% against Northwestern. The dude gets the ball out quick — great — but he’s about to get introduced to Knowles’ patented “What the hell am I looking at?” defensive scheme with 110,000 white-clad lunatics turning every audible into a game of charades.

Also, love how we’re still using last year’s outside zone clinic as gospel, as if Oregon won’t have watched that tape on a loop since spring camp. You don’t think they’re coming in saying “hey, maybe don’t let Singleton roast our linebackers in space again”? Spoiler alert: they are.

And Allar? Yeah, he's been uneven. But pretending like he hasn’t had a leash tighter than a toddler at the zoo is disingenuous. Maybe — just maybe — this is the week they let the five-star actually throw beyond 10 yards without checking with the analytics guy in the booth first.

Bottom line: CJF doesn’t “have” to win this game because of the playoff math. He has to win it because the fan base will melt into a puddle of existential crisis if another Top 10 matchup turns into “almost had it.” And honestly? I’m here for it — fire up the AI, let’s simulate 10,000 versions of this game and argue about every one.
I'm in manlove

please explain to me how “holding 15 close to the vest” helps 15 in any way. Has O played 15 recently? Have tape or anything?
son1 is telling me the same nonsense

You will be so drunk you won’t be able to enunciate your “Big Game James” mantra.
Are you rooting for them or waiting for them to fail?

Harry, you know I love State football. That’s why I want to compete with the teams that matter. Did you go to the Villanova game? Was that victory FANTASTIC? (of course not, it didn’t matter at all)

me and a few others aren’t the only ones questioning wtaf big game is doing. I suggest you watch Joel on Colin to get the national view on big games which mirrors my own. The week will be flush with chats just like my own.

and in conclusion me, 1 n 2 began Joe Rogan sober October when we hit Baltimore memorial Sunday.. LA was insane

People who know me would expect me to pay a LOT of attention to the game while at the wedding by taking frequent visits to the tv, if there, or glancing at feed in phone.

if we’re playing well, I probably watch less and catch full game replay.

If we’re getting blown out, I’m likely to be a dull attendee.

if it’s close either way, I expect a crowd with me of other PSUers.

To me, the biggest key for this particular game, is getting lined up and ready for play on defense. Knowles said this himself yesterday. I am more than certain this has been the main point of emphasis defensively. Last year in the Pasadena game vs Oregon, Knowles Buckeye defense was lined up and ready for every single play, and took out the Oregon quick snap offense completely: This had a huge effect on the game as Oregon couldn't get the open receivers, and as a result couldn't pass protect for Gabriel. This is also where Beaver Stadium comes into play: Using anything other than a silent snap or a guard tapping center, is extremely complicated and dangerous for the opposing offense in State College at night. It's far too loud to use a clap. Not one single player on the Oregon roster has experienced what they are about to experience next weekend. Last year in Indianapolis, I can't even count how many plays where Gabriel took the snap while our defense was literally yelling at each other and nobody was even lined up, let alone playing defense. Tom Allen cost us the Big Ten championship that night because Oregon probably ran 20 or more plays against a defense that wasn't ready for the snap. The contrast between that and then Ohio State two weeks later was shocking. I'm glad we have Knowles. This is why he was signed.

All of this of course is moot if Penn State can't run the ball and is forced to throw more than 30 times.

Play a complete game? Penn State will win. Play an incomplete game? Oregon will win.

That simple. Must protect the ball, win the battle of field position, and capitalize on any mistakes.

This is where the size of the financial wedding gift buys grace for inattention.

No I didn’t get to use my tickets because I got Covid and my grandmother died on top of that

I enjoy every game because I love the effort the kids make every day and every weekend. I like my team no matter who they play.

Every game matters win or lose. If PSU loses do you think it matters in the polls and if we make the playoffs?

Colin is a fraud. Klatt is just another talking head. Do they provide you with new ideas? Do they make you feel FANTASTIC when you listen to them? Do they make you feel special because you agree with them?

Is that based on what you've seen so far this year?
What did you expect to see so far. The offense was very vanilla. Defense looks fast and could be special. Special teams seem to be very solid. Young guys played a lot. No major injuries. You don’t think Penn state could have scored over 70 in each of those games if they wanted? They got what they needed from those games. Beating teams by 70 really doesn’t do much. I think it’s a tall task for Oregon to come across country and beat this team.

I know this game does not necessarily ruin our playoff chances, but I think its enormously important for Franklin and Drew. The school has held up their end of the bargain, Drew is making real $$$ and Franklin has gotten all he could dream of in terms of Coordinators, NIL, and Transfers. Time to go win a big game against a really good opponent.

An Oregon win can and will propel the Lions in a real positive way!

I'm hopeful we win...no reason we can't...but if the game is competitive regardless of the outcome it's very positive. Thankfully college football is no longer about perfection.
