I would no more feel bad that Mullen's 4 games exceeds Croom's 5 years than I would if we went to the Cotton Bowl this year or some such.

I really see emotional correlation between Mullen's success and Croom's lengthy failure.

is because it's hip to bash Croom right now. Back during Croom's first year it was hip to bash Jackie. It's just part of the fan culture.

I voted for the lose because we were so close, however after watching our team play the pass two weekend has made my Croom hate intensified by 10. I can't believe we put up with that bastard for five years. For the first time in 9 years I feel really good about our team. They act, look and play like a football team. Even the Liberty bowl year under Croom I did not feel good about our team. They were there because of a few big plays and a lot of breaks. Right now my feelings are that after this year no one will take us for granted. If we make a good showing the next three weeks, it might start to change this year. We still have a ways to go and we might get beat by 30 the next two Saturdays but right now I am feeling pretty damn good.

I'm still pissed off at both of those sons of bitches, although Sherrill does get some forgiveness for what he did for us 1991-2000.

with croom. we are and dubmasses if we forget the stupidity of that man.

should we continue bashing him all the time in the coming years? probably not. could it easily happen for a few years? sure. croom bashed jackie with his "right way" crap for 5 solid years.

also, i wouldn't say it is "hip" right now to bash croom. i would say it has plenty of validity when you consider the talent level he left us to deal with. so maybe instead of it being our fan culture it is the fact of the matter that croom sucked.

i don't like a new member of the board just because they bash croom. i consider it a given. there are plenty of douches on here who bash croom and i don't like them but it is because they are douches.

2007 was the "lucky times," as a few of us tried to convince the SixPack, which had grown a thick coat of wool back in the Dec. 2007 - Aug. 2008 time frame.

I think you are conveniently forgetting how horrid those teams were.

Remember tying Arkansas State? Remember giving up 65 points to Steve Taneyhill?

1993: 3-6-2 (4-5-2 in the record books, with the forfeit from Bama)
Lost to Memphis (our last loss to them)
Got stomped by UF and AU
Got hammered by a ****** UK team at home (coldest game ever)
and the best of all - tied Arkansas State.

1995: 3-8
Outscored 165-73 by Tenn, S Carolina and Auburn. 65 to Carolina, 52 to UT and 48 to Auburn.
Lost to LA-Monroe

That's pretty freaking terrible. On par with the shittiness of Croom. 1993 can *almost* be excused, since we were still building, and Sherrill had won with Felker's players (primarily) in '91 and '92. But '95, coming off a Peach Bowl berth? Sherrill nearly got shitcanned in 1996, as you recall, until the upset of Bama and then the beatdown in Oxford saved his ***. Then, he started bending the rules a little and the winning started, which we all enjoyed of course. But you can't seriously tell me that those 2 years weren't some of the crappiest football you've ever witnessed.

are actually BETTER than all but 1 of Crxxm's Division I-A records. And we averaged over 20 points per game in both of those years, something we didn't even come CLOSE to doing in any of Crxxm's seasons other than 2007. In 1993, we were outscored by only 0.4 points per game on average, again something Crxxm never came CLOSE to, even in the 2007 season.

but it gets old. And it was old with Jackie to.

And I remember pre-MB era people bashing Felker for years, to.

Croom's teams couldn't score and Jackie's bad teams couldn't keep people from scoring. Lest we forget Bill Read and React Clay and Ron Cooper.

Thank you Joe Lee Dunn.

I remember the Bobby Wallace as MSU's HC after 1996 rumors.

For once, I agree with you. I think ol Patdog has a memory block or perhaps wasn't an MSU fan in the 90s. All of your examples are good. Also don't forget the 1996 La Tech loss. I'll always remember the irate callers into the postgame show after that one. The one that sticks out to me was the caller that asked Sherrill if he'd ever thought about resigning.

for his personal situation. It would be pretty hard for any man to be focused considering all he was going through. That said, he should have probably thrown in the towel before it got as bad as it did.

In my mind, it is under no circumstances past the point of being able to bash Croom. After the game, I wasn't pissed at Tyson Lee. I was pissed at Croom's stupid *** for the fact that Lee and Relf are our best options at QB.

into believing that improvement would take so long. But I am damn glad Mullen has come in and proved him wrong. I just get this sick feeling in my stomach everytime I think about our game because we were so close and SHOULD have one. That win would have thrown Mullen in the national spotlight. Also, if we would have beaten them, then beaten Ga Tech this saturday we would likely be top 25 and that would be 17ing nuts. <17>!!!!!!

I started getting wooly after the Bama game that year then Many Happy Returns had the wool growing faster and thicker. Our lackluster performance in the Liberty Bowl coupled with the reality of how we got to that bowl (3 lucky plays in games we should have lost) and I sheared the wool off before Christmas and it was back to dreading another year wth that fat, lazy <17> at the helm.

Edited to add: I voted #2. As bad as I felt and still feel after the Saturday game. It was only 1 game in a rebuilding from scratch year. That's nothing compared to 5 years of crap. Remember the Maine!

Croom is over and done with, just forget that already. I'm glad Mullen has done more in 4 games than Croom did in 5 years. How can that disgust you? Those years are over be happy we found a coach that has already proven he is gonna make us good. We win that game if Relf was in the last two plays or if we had Cameron Newton already or if we just hand it too Dixon he was in on third down even with everyone going for him, he just didn't have the 17ing ball. I would have been way less upset if we would have lost by feeding it to Dixon. In those situations you gotta give it to the best player on the team. 17 Chad Jones, he got so lucky tipping that ball sticking his hand out, but midget lee threw a pass on a rope instead of lobbing it up so it would get over anyone jumping to block it. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck I hate him.

I do agree IF MSU beats #7 LSU and G.T. 4-1 has TOP25 potential... it gets fuzzy when you act like the ship is righted after 4 games... LSU did not try to beat the **** out of us as much as they tried to work on their running game. Les felt he could beat us soundly so he decided to work his team and not let them beat us by four TD's what good does that do for anybody... Believe me a couple of GO route in that first qt and he beats us as bad as he wants to... We are moving in the right direction, but don't act like Mullen will have 10 win year next year, because he got beat by LSU by 4... there is still aLOT of work to do to accomplish these goals.
