Hopefully Lvilles RB will be ready to go next weekend. Hard to explain the defense being so dominant in the first half and then getting absolutely mashed in the second half. If they just got worn down then that's a huge concern against BB and an even bigger one against the wear you down styles of GBW and C-G

BB needs to watch the tape of the CG/Libertyville game from last year's playoffs. Lees was held to 12 yards on 17 rushes and 72 yards passing after racking up similar season numbers at that time to what he has done this year. He can be stopped, or at least slowed down, even if he has more talent around him than he did last year.

Three times in the second half Normal got within one score of Libertyville, and three times Lees responded with a TD ON THE VERY NEXT PLAY. Yes, CG stopped him last year, but I think key words are LAST YEAR's CG team. I've said in another thread that CG team was special. If Libertyville does make past BB I think they will be underdog in DeKalb though. I can't see GBW (or the team that beat them) not being favored. Normal came out with a hurry-up offense in the 2nd half and it gave Libertyville fits. Yes, that worries me.

Oddy, I am not insinuating that Lees would be stopped by this year's CG team, but I'd like to think they would be able to slow him down if that matchup happens. I only hope we get the chance, but the big green monster is standing in the way right now. The kid is unreal and a very special HS football player who is a blast to watch. I am sure everyone has had a "plan" when they go against him, but perhaps not the personnel or defensive scheme to deal with him and everyone else on the team.

I hope Libertyville wins this weekend b/c whether it is CG or GW, I want to see him matchup with either of those teams in the finals.

I would love to see a Libertyville-CG rematch. Don't take that the wrong way, just want to see LHS advance.

A rematch from last year would be fun to see and hope it happens. Would also be a title rematch from '04 and my nephew was one of the backs on that CG team that lost 13-3 to Libertyville. Still hurts him to this day. CG beat Morgan Park in the semis at Gately. One of the best games I've ever seen. They didn't have the D1 athletes that MP had, the speed MP had, etc. yet were able to pull it out to get to the finals.

I didn't realize LHS beat CG in the title game. I had to attend a wedding and didn't even get to watch it on TV.

Yep, 2004. Was start of CG's success as a program. Close game and nobody could get any O going. Last year's playoff game was a blowout, as you know, by CG, but both different teams this year.

im gonna say I first noticed Cary in '97 when they got to 5A semi lost to Alonzo Wise and RI in OT. Then the next year Cary gave one of MC's best teams their toughest playoff game in the 5A Q. #goCarySat #Trojans #beatGW

I remember the MP game. Was that Demetrious Jones? I remember MP threw only deep passes for the entire 4th quarter. Was unbelievable.

Yes, it was Jones at QB for MP, a Notre Dame recruit. As fast as he was I remember Alex Kube (who went on to play at NIU and is now an owner of Elite 6 training) who was a junior at the time running him down near the South end zone on what was an incredible defensive play late in the game.

Not sure MP had to play from behind that year and it got them out of their game plan. They were an incredibly athletic bunch with a nice group of DI players who I think would have beat that CG team 8 out of 10 times. Just goes to show that anything can happen...
