To play QB in the SEC he needs to lose 40-50 pounds, if he doesn't then he will be putting his hand in the dirt on the defensive line. It would make the most sense for him to come play under Mullen to develop as QB and train under Balis who without a shadow of a doubt could get the results in the weight room. But with in-state recruiting things don't always make sense. I'm just ready for Feb 1 to get here and move on to focusing on Spring ball.

if liggins has the speed, i don't care how much he weighs. just tone it up into muscle and let him be a muscular 280 lbs with 4.6 speed.

Judging by photos of him I would say he is just a big guy. Doesn't look like there is alot of weight to lose.

is he really going to be that be of a get for us if he signs? or is it more of the fact that he is in oxfords back yard and is highly rated by recruiting sites? i know he's won 2 state titles and has put up very good numbers but many hs players do. some people act like he's going to be the stud of our class if we get him, which he very well may be.

with better coaching in high school. And running a spread like MSU's instead of the wishbone or whatever Relf's team ran.

I don't know if we'll want him to play at 275-280 or not- I'm thinking 260 is ideal, although if he does play at 275 and keeps his speed, I really don't care what his weight is.

This is not directed solely at you because we've had several responses like this. I just don't understand it. Two years ago we struck out on Cam and signed lil Favre. Of course most people **** on that because it was a consolation offer.<div>
</div><div>Now, we are in desperate need of QB depth. I know that some MSU fans have this dream that Tyler is going to play every snap next year and shatter the record books, but he hasn't exactly been Mr. Durability. Look at Ole Miss last year with all their QBs. Hell, prior to the 2010 season, John Brantley was getting Heisman pub and he didn't last an entire season these past 2 years. </div><div>
</div><div>We've got to have a QB and Mullen is actually trying to score one with some accolades. But just because he's from Oxford and the mighty Rebels are recruiting him, we have a segment of fans that just want Mullen to not waste his time and go offer somebody else in that lil Favre mold. It's odd to see.</div>

If he drops weight would he possibly pick up speed and if he doesn't drop weight will his legs eventually break down on him?

In the North half title game. He's very good and the system that LC ran was perfect for him. Time will tell what sort of college player he will be, but it definitely seems that he would be a better fit at State than in oxford. But who knows what goes through these guys' heads during the recruiting process.

Now, he wasn't asked to throw it a lot. Lafayette never needed to, but when he did... I'll assure you he has a cannon. Ask the catcher of their baseball team how hard he throws from the mound. And he's at least as accurate as what Mullen's had to work with to this point at MSU. Only time will tell whether he has the dedication and takes to coaching well enough to become a truly great passer.

As a junior against Oxford, on the second play of the game he took the snap around the right end, untouched, 80 yards to the endzone. He was probably 255-260 at that point and the fastest player on the field.

With Mullen? In our system? You're damn straight... he's that good of a get.

he isnearly aperfect QBfor what we do. There is a lot more to it than that though. The pressure on him to stay home has to be intense. I've always heard he was a Reb unless one particular school offered. By all accounts they didn't.

He's not as accurate as Russell or Prescott coming out of high school and he's not as fast as Prescott. But you can just keep makingstuff up if you want.

a strange comparison but LeBron James is every bit of 280lbs. and I bet he runs a sub 4.5. Different sport, different heights, different athletes but anytime I hear 280 and fast I immediately think of LeBron. LeBron was weighed before he got drafted at 250lbs. It hasn't changed since then. Ain't no way in hell he is still at 250. He's huge and fast!! Point is if one man can be ripped and fast at 280 then another one can too. If Liggins is half the athlete LeBron is at that weight he'd be the steal of entire class. I really want Liggins just to see what Balis and Mullen can do with him.

So, I'm not worried about him gaining the right kind of weight- muscle mass, and I'm not worried about him breaking down in college because of his weight. If I was a NFL scout, I might be worried about that at some point, but not in college. We have Balis, and I imagine that working with him, he will more than likely drop down to 260 or so and do the right things that he needs to do to maintain speed and manage his weight.

Think about all of the bigger QB's in college football in the past- Lorenzen has been mentioned, but then you have Duante Culpepper, Byron Leftwich, Relf I consider to be successful, JaMarcus Russell, Tim Tebow, Ben Rothlisberger, and etc. QB's that are large have been successful before and will continue to have success in college- moreso than tiny QB's. And I'm calling a big QB someone over 230 pounds for reference.

Also, as far as speed- a guy like that is just like Relf. Relf was not very fast, but he would run over you and punish you. I don't know how fast Tebow is, but he definately will punish you as a runner. I think Liggins could be the same type of QB as a runner- someone that will use his size to run over people and gets yards rather than outrun them like a Micheal Vick.

he is a bigger Relf who can throw it better. He didn't throw it much the times I saw him but when he did it was a nice tight spiral. He can play QB at the weight he is now,
