He turned 2 in Feb. He'll be under anesthesia for 2 hours. Getting ear tubes removed, adnoids removed, a brain wave hearing test, & new tubes put in.

He was 3 weeks premature & spent 3 days in the NICU.

We knew in utero that he'd have an extra chromosome (Down Syndrome) & were told he'd have low muscle tone. That has proven to be false.

I'm currently wearing a heart monitor, for he visited a geneticist, & we share a "variable of unknown significance." They're looking for arrhythmia. The fact that I grew up playing all sports with this & had no issues apparently doesn't matter.

The procedure has been rescheduled twice due to this. Hospital lawyers have been balking.

His mother & I are confident in the doctors & surgeons, but still worried about him being under for so long.

I'd appreciate your prayers or well wishes. Even if you think religion is bullshlt, I'll take you pouring some out for the giant spaghetti monster in the sky.

I absolutely will praying and it will be genuine for sure. I am a god fearing person with a relationship with him. Prayers absolutely headed your way! I understand what you mean about playing sports and everything then finding out later about something, that since pretty much disabled me, finding out I had Ankylosing Spondylitis and Muscular dystrophy also later in life. I don’t have kids so I’m not gonna say I fully understand what you’re going though but I will absolutely send you genuine prayers! God Bless man for sure they are resilient!

Been there with my first staying in NICU for 3 weeks after birth and wife going home without baby. These kids are tough by divine design. Nothing makes you feel more helpless than trying to get help for your children. Prayers that your medical team leads you through this and don't hesitate to respectfully challenge any pushback you get. Sometimes what's best for you and what's best for the hospital/docs don't align and that's when mama bear and papa bear have to show up and show out. God bless you and lil Coch!!

My 2 yr old grand had the same surgery (tube removal, tube replacement, and adenoids) a few months ago, nothing to it. Did it first thing in the a.m. and he was home chasing the dog by noon. Tonsils are next, they wanted to wait awhile on those for some reason. He's had a snotty nose since last Fall and this is supposed to end that, hopefully..............

Hope all is well with Lil' Cochise. I had Carpel Tunnel surgery on Monday and opted for only local anesthesia. I don't like being under either. I could feel the Dr. cutting and stretching the incision open with metal holders and it felt really weird. Not good thoughts going through my mind. Wrist is still pretty sore and they say it takes about 6-8 weeks to gain most of your motion back. And some people it takes even longer. Operation only about 10 minutes but it's certainly no minor thing to have done to you.

Prayers from our family to yours. 5 years ago, my son flipped our SxS and the roof landed on his arm. We were told many times that night that he would lose his left arm which is his dominate arm. There was nothing holding his forearm together but skin, nerves and very little muscle. Elbow was the same, no ligaments left together at all. There turned out to be very little nerve damage. 19 surgeries later, he has back over 90% functionality. Keep praying and stay positive.
