According to some pretty much every team can beat ESL this year.

Really? Who said that? lol There may be a fanatic here or there, but Eastside gets just as much respect on here as any other team. When a team is a candidate for the hypothetical best team in the state honor, there's always going to be what if's? That's what makes it interesting.

No not a chance but I do believe they will struggle with some of the 7 & 8A teams that play sound D.

So who do you think play sound D? Keep in mind ESL put up 500 plus yards in a losing effort to MC last year

So every time NV plays on turf they are at a disadvantage? I get what your saying but this
shouldn’t be an excuse for giving up 48 points.
To be honest I believe ESL is one of the top teams in Illinois but they now have a big question mark because of their defense.

No I am not saying that is the reason why. There is no excuse and I have said I agree with questioning the whole best team in the state talk. I’m not a fan of best team talk however, saying teams that have already lost this year is now a stretch in my opinion. Especially when they lost to a STL team that would be barely above average in 5A or higher in Illinois.

Oh I agree with the overall respect. Some years they didn’t deserve the respect that was given.

Lol
That’s last year. Every year is a new year.
You know this regardless how good you think this years team is.
So some of the teams already mentioned. MC, LWE, Loyola, GBW to name a few. I am not saying they would beat ESL but I am pretty certain they don’t give up 50 points to ESL. I am a LWE fan and I don’t think they have ever allowed 48 points in their history.

I disagree. Mt Carmel played at home in their elements both times. Right after that they went on the Road and lost. Even last year they almost lost to LZ on the Road. Only a handful of teams in Illinois are successful on the road during playoffs
MC has had a fair amount of success on the road in the playoffs, they won multiple road games on the way to the ‘12 & ‘13 titles including making their way down to Edwardsville one year and to State game at U of I. They were fortunate to get ESL at home the past 2 seasons and took advantage of ESL mistakes, which is what good teams do.

That big fullback a decade ago who played DT in the league.

And AJ’s lil bro.

Bevis? So two and a possible third over how many years? lol Like I said, not quite as intimidating as Eastside... And AJ's youngest brother might turn out to be just like AJ. Saw him recently standing right next to AJ and he's built just like him, just hasn't filled out yet. His teammates are pretty big too.

I think sound D is limiting big plays and penalties and taking advantage of mistakes. As you said in another post, MC’s defense forced 5 turnovers in the game last year. Good teams will capitalize on the other teams mistakes and they don’t give up a lot of points.

Absolutely. I 100% agree. The question is do you think they get those same turnovers in 30 degree weather instead of single digit temps? That’s the home field advantage right? Again it work both ways and should be factored in

I think they do get them in 30 degree weather. And since the low temp on Saturday, November 10th 2018 was 28 degrees I think it was close enough to 30 degrees to assume that the temperature had a minimal effect on the turnovers.

28 in Chicago compared to 30 in STL is no where close to the same but I get your stance which is cool.

So we're all in agreement this should be a LWE running clock on Friday. If not it's a Raider win of sorts.

35-7 East. The Beast should have no problems unless Dale Martin comes back.
