We need left handed pitching and he is someone that has a chance to make an immediate impact for us- either in the bullpen or possibly as a starter. His fastball is 88-92, I've heard his pitching coach say that he can hit 94. He also has a really good curveball, and he has a sinker that is his out pitch.
Here's what has me excited:
Our pitching staff of the future, if everything goes as expected- I'm not expecting anything unusual, but I won't totally breathe easy until Aug 15th at midnight- looks like this in three years:
Brandon Woodruff- 5th round draft pick
Jacob Lindgren- 12th round draft pick
Trevor Fitts- Alabama pitcher of the year as a junior.
These are the types of talents that we have to have to compete for championships and win them.
