struck out 4 in an inning tonight, second time he's done that in pro ball. Now has 30 Ks, 4 BBs, and only 1 ER in 13.1 innings across 3 levels. I smell a AA call up soon

The Yanks catchers must can't catch JL either.

In 12.1 innings, Jacob has 4 wild pitches. That's a really high number.

Kimbrel has 6 wp's this year in 44 innings pitched. This is kimbrel's wildest year to date too.

Lindgren's strikeout rate is unbelievable though. He's gonna be a great reliever, but he has to harness that slider a little better

meh, when the WP's are coming on strikeouts, you don't want to "harness" that slider. It would come at the expense of his effectiveness

I agree somewhat, but mlb hitters will lay off that slider better than a ball hitters.

Mlb catchers are better than a ball catchers too though

This is also Kimbrel's first year without McCann, who is one of the better defensive catchers in the game. Gattis...not so much.

When you have a wipeout slider like Lindgren does, with that much tilt coming in the low-to-mid 80s, there aren't too many catchers in the minors who can handle it, especially when he's backfooting righties and burying it. You get him paired with a MLB-average defensive catcher and that "wildness" will not be as prevalent. Granted, his command profile does need refinement for him to be the most successful - even though he's only walked 4 guys out of 55 - but I don't put the WP numbers solely on him due to the fact that he hasn't been with many catchers who have developed enough to be able to handle his stuff.

also something to be said for a pitcher/catcher working together for longer period of time. He doesn't have that right now and these catchers aren't used to him.

consistency helps

Bump because Matt Thornton, who was one of only two lefty-on-lefty matchup guys that the Yankees had in their bullpen, just got claimed off waivers by Washington...which means Lindgren, unless something disastrous happens, is primed to see the MLB this year. Hope he does

Rich Hill will be taking the spot in the bullpen.

Gotta see what the kid can do in AA first I would imagine. The Yankees bullpen has been running out of steam, and I don't see a 34-year-old journeyman being a big rejuvenating factor. New York needs his electricity from the left side, and I fully expect Lingo to be on the active roster before the end of this month.

Cashman has

certainly hinted at wanting to bring some youth up, but as of now I'm afraid he's behind a few guys (Webb/Huff). It would be pretty awesome for our program (recruiting) to have him move up that fast, though. If he did, I believe he'd be the youngest pitcher in the league that throws as hard as he does.

He'd also be the first guy from the entire 2014 draft to make it to the bigs, beating out Nola, Scwarber, Burdi, and Rodon for that distinction. That'd be pretty awesome too.

Schwarber isn't even in the running on that. He's minimum this year and all of next year I suspect before it's seriously considered. Nola could probably start for the Phillies tomorrow, unless they see some benefit in continuing to trot AJ Burnett out there every fifth day.

Should have cleared up that those guys were deemed the most polished coming out of college and could possibly see time this year. Totally agree on Schwarber not making it up this year, though he looked like he could get a Double-A shot when I saw him twice in High-A Daytona.

Oh and congrats on the Baez call-up D@A
