...I am slowly coming around the %%@# thing because it bothers Ole Miss fans so much. First of all, Mullen (as he said in the interview) thinks football rivalries are great and he sees it as a strength of college football. Secondly, Mullen has been at the pinnacle of college football and so he doesn't have an inferiority complex with them. Thirdly, because of all this talking, I seriously doubt we go to Oxford unprepared next year. We may get beat, but I bet we're ready to play.
My one criticism of poking them too much is that any time State rises off the mat in football, the crazies come out. We'll soon have an all out assault on cowbells, Xena will be finding NCAA investigators to seduce, and private investigators will be mobilized. I'm not sure he's aware of the level of crazy that he's dealing with with that fanbase when we start having some success at their expense.
Also, it's still pretty gay, and his yankee background has failed him in the trash talking department. I still prefer Jackie's 'Mississippi.'
