UT, OU, OSU probably going to Pac-10
aTm has till Tuesday to decide if it is going to SEC or Pac-10
Baylor could sneak in Pac-10 if aTm doesn't go.

Things from UT campus are pretty close to the vest. I am going to hit up some of my friends this weekend to see if I can get any more scoop. For me, it would be nice to be able to drive over to aTm to see SEC football.

is that the Texas/Oklahoma schools would like to bring Baylor along if aTm comes to the SEC, while the Pac 10 schools would prefer Kansas.

Baylor would be no issue. Breaking Kansas and Kansas State up would bring up some politics, so Baylor might get it because its easier to make happen.

Other than that, your post pretty much nails it. Enjoy the United States victory on the pitch tomorrow and we'll know more Monday.

from an Aggie and Bulldog. The main reason that Texas is trying to apply so much pressure on A & M is that they don't have the balls to compete in the SEC and don't want to be treated as an equal: hell we are Texas and you should bow to us. The other dirty little secret is that an A & M program in the SEC, which could sell players on staying in the Lone Star State and play in the best football conference in the country with national telecast that begins before 11 EST, would begin to dominate the state within 5 years. Texas doesn't want to compete, they don't want to share, and by God they are better than you. Go straight to Hell horns.

I lived in Texas 10 years. I've been around tons of Aggies and Longhorns. I prefer the Aggies, thanks. I've been to Kyle Field for a game too. Tons of fun. I welcome the Aggies to the SEC with open arms. They'd fit right in with the SEC.

two things

It just seems crazy for the fan bases of Texas to want to play in a time zone area that is 2 hours different and thousands of miles away. That means the players will be flying unless they are playing their Texas universities.

second.... how do you develop rivalries when the fans are so disconnected from each other? The SEC the way it is right now seems to allow our fans to drive to most away games. It also allows for the fan base to develop rivalries.

Yeah... .this is about more money via TV markets for the PAC10 and Big12. they have seen the revenue that the SEC has distributed.
For the SEC, Texas A&M is a great market and the Virginia area is an interesting media market. North Carolina would be a great media market. All for the TV revenue.

It is going to get interesting!

<div class="messagebody">The Pac10 has been a geographically spread out conference for decades. The Western states are simply massive.

When Arizona goes up to play Washington, they have to travel 1550 miles. Not exactly a day trip.
Texas heading up to Washington State would be 2050 miles. More, but really heh heh whats it matter after the first 1000 miles?

For Florida to travel to play Arkansas, they have to travel 1000 miles. Certainly not a day trip.

Yes it spreads the conference out a lot, but it was already spread out a lot.

The Pac10 teams were already having to travel great distances at times. This will add miles, but seriously, after its 1000 miles away, whats it matter?

The Big12 schools will join with Arizona and Arizona State to form a division. They are both in Mountain time...only 1 hour difference. So it wont be any different than us going to play UGA or UK.
When they play cross division teams, yeah there will be a 2 hour difference. Oh well.
So instead of playing at 7pm they play at 9 their time? Oh the horror. Or instead of a 1pm kick, they tee it up at 3pm their time? EEK!!!

And the Pacific time zone schools will have to travel to TX too and play there...they will have to adjust and apparently the schools are more than OK with that since they OK'd the additions to their conference.

*little known fact, Arizona is on Mountain time for half the year and Pacific for the other half. They dont adjust their clocks. </div>
