Current mayor leaves office in a month.
That's pretty funny. If Vicksburg has a Commission form of government (which I believe it does), then the salary can be reduced by a simple vote but to raise it back, it has to be put to a vote of the entire city. So that's a good screwing to leave your predecessor.

It’s unbelievable how petty and despicable most politicians are. I can’t believe we haven’t all just gotten sick of it and refused to vote for anybody at all.

Where is Monty Brewster when you need him?

How did Flagg get voted out? He's been there forever.
He ended up in a three horse race in a general election. The result was the oddity under Mississippi election law that provides that the top vote getter in the general election is declared the winner even if the top vote getter does not receive at least 50% (+ one) of the vote.

If you have ever served on a government or quasi-government body you know that after serving with some A-hole on that body for a year or more and had to endure his/her/its endless poor management style and thinking you will gladly take a last hour jab at the idiot before you leave the board.
