I'm thinking he's gonna be a good rebounder and defender that will bring energy off the bench. I'll take that anyday. We need to recruit guys that will be role players. We have enough guys that wanna be stars already.

Quote: "Johnson was a post player for Carver, but he'll have to bulk up if he's going to be effective on the blocks in college."

Who's gonna help him with this? Welcome back Ravern...without the shot.

Ever since Jamoney and Chuck Nasty left/graduated, we haven't exactly been the most explosive team in the SEC. Ravern could throw it down when he wanted to, but he was/is a *****.

I like dunks. Johnson supposedly is a high-flyer. I'm hoping his coach is right about him.

I watched a little but of film of him that the Swan posted, and he needs to gain a LOT of weight. M'fer is skinny. Really skinny. I wouldn't expect much out him next year.

As far as I know Richard Akins is still the s&c coach. I've been under his program before as a player when he was at another school. He is an old-school hard nosed guy who can give you these cold stares that go right through you if you are not doing what you are supposed to. He is not an in your face type guy who's gonna stand over you demanding every rep, which is maybe what our team needs. He has been at MSU a long time, but the recent products that we have put on the court have shown little progress being made on these players. This is all assuming that Stans lets Akins do his job with little interference, which I believe is highly unlikely. I think Stans puts his weak hand heavily into the s&c program which limits progress on the players.

btw, Akins once told us that Micheal Gholar couldn't fit his dick in a pringles can.. take that for what its worth.

edit for spelling Akins name correctly and confirming he is still the s&c coach and been at MSU for 20+ years

It shouldn't be this way, but it seems like our S & C program is pretty voluntary. It seems like with our guys they're either going to blow up, or make zero progression in four years, which tells me that no one is hounding these guys to hit the gym. Rhodes, Bowers, and Frazier, etc. didn't come in ripped from day one. But unlike our current crop of hard workers, they seemed to give at least a single **** (eventually in Rhodes' case). So I won't count off this guy yet. It'll all just depend on how bad he wants it. I'm hoping these four freshmen are coming in with a chip on their shoulder to rehabilitate the image of the team. Who knows, it sucks that we've got to hope for guys who can teach/coach themselves in order to be successful.
