Thad is SEVERELY out of touch. My sister is a producer for a news channel and said that thad is dodging every interview anyone is trying to get. she said he is badly exposed when he speaks in public and is showing touches of being senile. She has said that his intent is to win his seat and bow out and name his successor...i dont know the truth or plausibility of that, but it comes from someone that doesnt really care for politics.

Saw that this morning. What the hell was he thinking? Which is worst...losing your senate position by saying you supported Strom Thurmond's way of thinking or losing your seat by admitting you screwed animals as a kid?

I don't care if he does indecent things with animals on the front steps of the capitol building, Mississippi is still much better off with him than McDaniels.

About 10 years ago, a friend of mine's grandfather was talking to a group of us. He was in his mid 80s.

He said when they were teenagers, they use to get behind cows and stand on a bucket and....you know.

I didnt believe him. I asked him why and he said that women back then were scared of getting pregnant. I told him there were other ways than screwing a cow.

After about 10 mins, I could tell he was dead serious.

Thad reminds of Paterno. Too old to know any better. And quite frankly, doesn't give a ****.

He can't bow out and name his successor. It doesn't work that way. If/when he retires (assuming he's reelected), there will be a special election to replace him. He COULD have retired last year and Phil Bryant could have appointed his successor until this election. Which is what he should have done. I agree that he's probably not mentally fit to serve. But he's still probably the better choice in this primary. Can't see myself voting for either of the Republicans in the fall though.

I just need one question answered. All the Mcdaniel supporters on my social media keep screaming about the results being a referendum and a message to Haley Barbour, screw Barbour, you don't run MS Barbour, etc... I'm wondering what the hell their problem is with Barbour? I thought he was as good as politicians can be. I understand that a vote for Thad is just a defacto Greg Harper vote but I don't understand all the tea party supporter's (on my social medias) beef with Barbour???

Then you don't understand politics. There is a difference between views, talking points. It is fine to have views but how the hell are you, as one senator in the US Congress going to do **** about getting prayer back in school. How are you going to repealing Obamacare? The lameness of a commercial like that is that he apparently has no clue how to get anything done. So, he just will spew out some talking points that people love to hear.

Why not just say "I love Elvis". Its as practical as running on a platform of those points he listed. He apparently is asking you to send him to Congress so he can do nothing. Because if he is going to try to get those things passed, his job is pretty simple. He won't do anything.

Bingo. Well said, AHS.

He doesn't need to be mentally fit. All the work is done by staffer's anyway. There have been several members of the senate and house that have basically pulled off the political version of Weekend at Bernie's. They are basically just re-elected for the purpose of maintaining their seniority for their district. Not ideal but even if Cochran has lost a step mentally (and I have no clue if he has), it doesn't change the fact that sending him back to Washington will be better for Mississippi.

Yes, bingo. In a local election for tax assessor a few years ago, one candidate ran on the premise he would create jobs. A tax assessor creating jobs? You know the sob won.

I'm in TX and saw the same with Comptroller recently.

The republican candidates touted their pro 2nd amendment stance, desire to repeal Obamacare, and commitment to protect the border. They will get elected on that platform over the democrat candidate who is actually a CPA and has a experience as a CFO. People are stupid...especially Texans.

Yeah, the work is done by the staffers, but their boss needs to be the boss and not a puppet. Just because he's far from the first congressman in that situation doesn't mean it's good for either the country or, ultimately, for his district.

Lucien Smith ran for state treasurer...

as the pro-life, Obamacare fighting candidate. Because that's what state treasurers do right? Oh wait... I forgot the part about using the Treasurer's office to lay out your platform so you can step on the future governor elevator.

Apparently he does need to be mentally fit. Thad, McCain and the rest of my boys have there when our spending/debt is completely out of control, immigration is a joke, NSA is out of control, IRS is the Gestapo, Obama Care, the list goes on and on. I guess they all were lacking from day one 30 years ago. Yes the Pres. has tweaked the above to make it worst but these just did not happen in the last 5 years.............

Of course they do. Doctors also get you to stick out your tongue and say "AAHH", but getting you to stick out your tongue and say "AAHH" is not how being a doctor works.
