I don't think it really makes much difference as a forfeit would give us a win, but everyone would know it wasn't won on the field. And this will at least give us the option of trying to schedule a makeup game with somebody else if we can (I somehow suspect there's no way either MSU or Nichols St. would agree to play each other in a makeup game).</p>

but the snow had melted and the sun had been out for quite some time. I was at the doubleheader Saturday, and those two games were much worse than the possible Sunday game was. Hell it was much colder Saturday than it was Sunday at 1:30.

by 11 a.m. It was obvious that they werent going to play, Durham just used whatever excuse he could (weather) sorta like Skip did down in BR many years back. Knew he was gonna lose, so cxl'd the game. Faggots.

You would think that a coach of a program would want his team to go out and at least have a shot of picking up a win after dropping 2 on the road. If I was on their team I would be really embarrassed by that move.

is what baseball coach isn't dying for his team to play? Why was he in such a hurry to get all the way back to neighboring Louisiana? I would think 99% of coaches would have at least waited until game time to make that call and would've done anything they could to try and get the game in.

This guy is odd.

However, the Nichols St. coach does have one point in his favor. The umpires scheduled to work the game had already said they weren't driving back over from Birmingham, so we were going to have to get some local umpires. Which begs the quesiton of why the hell the umpires didn't just stay in a hotel in Starkville in the first place?

at 12:30 to an empty stadium. At 12:30, the tarp was still on the infield and there was NO snow anywhere around that I could see since the entire field was in the sun by then. I'm also willing to bet that the field was actually in better shape yesterday than it was on Saturday. The snow we got actually translated into very little rainfall and the field had more time to drain from the floods on Friday.

I think their coach is a puss and got scared when the arguement started in front of their dugout. Also, seeing our players practice diving into a base in the cold, wet outfield grass during pre-games on Saturday probably freaked him out too.

Please please Ninja! Lets get a make-up game with Nicholl's State!

The thing with the umpires kind of changes it a little, though, I also much ask why they weren't already in town. Is that normal?

If the officials aren't there to make a ruling, then it's hard to make a call either way.

Per Ellis blog, there can't be a forfeit when the officials don't show up regardless of what else happens or doesn't happen.

That's a good point. I would think that the refs/umpires/officials in any sport would have to be on hand to determine that one team didn't show up and declare a forfeit. Not that it really matters all that much. You'll probably sandwich in a game with McNeese State during a later midweek and get another free win.
