Yeah, Kimmel’s plummeting ratings had NOTHING to do with his show being cancelled.

It’s all a grand conspiracy to limit free speech.
Why are you bothering to pretend when no one in the administration is bothering to pretend? Even Carlson and Cruz are saying that Kimmel's cancelation is federal overreach and a violation of the First Amendment. When you've lost those two....

It’s not a violation of the 1st Amendment. I think it’s ridiculous and a bad thing gif our country. But your employer can absolutely fire you for a social media post you make that they don’t like.

It is a First Amendment violation if the federal government pressures your employer to fire you over speech, which is what happened, according to Trump himself and FCC Chairman Brendan Carr.

He literally says it here:

And for the record, this is what Jimmy Kimmel said to get his First Amendment rights violated by the Trump Administration:

Not even close to hate speech. Maybe you could argue that it was tacky, but there's worse stuff on the airwaves on a daily basis.

And he was right - Republicans absolutely did a lot of politicizing of Kirk's death and placed a high emphasis on making sure people knew the shooter wasn't a #MAGA type, which I think most people assumed he wasn't all along anyway.

Well, they lost Nexstar at first, the FCC may have had nothing to do with it.

We gotta start locking these political threads before Quasartard gets into them.
Kinda ironic that you would say call someone else that if you don't know the difference in Quaoar and a quasar, isn't it? Quaoar is an object in our solar system, probably a dwarf planet, while quasars are billions of light years away...

2 things can be true at once Q.
1. Trump and his FCC chair likely pressured the Kimmel firing and that's Government overreach. Kimmel should sue, he'll likely win.

2. Free speech is fine. The guardrails remain in place.

Here's a 3rd thing that's also true. Kimmel is a steaming pile of crap and got what he deserved.

How is this entertaining for a late night show?

How can #2 be true if you are conceding my point in #1? It would be one thing if Trump were firing Carr and promising an internal review to ensure it never happens again, but the opposite of that is happening.

Remember when Colbert got fired and people like me said that if the administration gets away with this one, they won't even bother with plausible deniability the next time they try this? Here we are. They're just openly saying they're doing it, and half of their fanboys (though not all, as a cited above) are pretending like they don't believe their own ears.

The year is 2032 President AOC has just pulled the FCC license for Fox News and defunded all conservative colleges across America. Republicans have no idea how this could happen as she beheads Gutfield on live TV
