Seven. Scholarship. Players.

That's what we had tonight. I agree that this year may not be pretty but lets at least give our basketball coach a chance to bring a gun to the gunfight instead of a bamboo stick.

We'll be ok. I haven't seen us fight back to get in a game like that in a while. Granted, it was one of the worst teams we'll play this year, but still. Rick needs to keep working and just make em a little better every game. It was looking like we might lose by 20 early on, so it definitely could have been a worse debut. But to your point, yes it could still be a long few years

It will definitely be three years before we know how good rick ray really is. We were down 16 at one point we came back and fought hard. guy hit a last second shot. its gonna be a long year but there are some positives we can get out of this loss

we do have 7 newcomers on this team and lost pretty much all our scoring and rebounding and any other statistical category you can think of from last year. its gonna be a long year but we knew we had it coming. im just glad it was as close as it was. truth be told i took troy +5

You think Stansbury would have won that game tonight? He lost worse games than this at home with good talent.

I dont know but we lost due to fact we have a depleted team and it would not have been as depleted. I will back the guy and I hope we when some games this season and things turn around fast but more then three years will not be acceptable.

blame all three years on our AD. Period.

Agree...Scott gets ALL of the blame. Not for firing Stansbury because it was definitely time for him to go but for his horrible job of being able to locate a more qualified candidate. If only he could've used twitter to locate and interview coaches.....#thissucks

Maybe I am missing the sarcasm, but I can't believe its easy to hire a coach when your former coach is doing everything in his power to sabotage the program.

I also don't understand how people can look at what Ray was left with and what he's working with currently and not at least give him a couple seasons to see how he does. He may not be the answer, but those with the sentiment that he should not be afforded any chance whatsoever to succeed just piss me off.

I'm not sorry at all that the pissed of Stansbury supporters have their panties in a wad because their access to the program was abruptly cut off. In fact, if your reading this and you fall in that category, please kindly go 17 yourself. Or better yet, pull your head out of your ******, get on board with supporting your University's basketball program and shut the 17 up. Perhaps you'll even get your precious "access" back if you continue your support in the new era.

alot of people have no idea what Stansbury has been doing, so cut the dumbasses some slack. They are still under the illusion he is a man of great character. Let them live their fantasy

Great post

Sorry. But the team would have been just as depleted whether we'd kept Stans or not.

Out with concussion symptoms from practice at some point this week...

Would have made a pretty big difference in this game having him IMO. When we have to put in that 8th man(Cunningham) was when our real problems started.

He's been very Ron Polk-ish...just behind the scenes

Absolute ********, as usual you have no idea what you are talking about, obviously that isn't going to stop you from making stuff up. The only bad thing is that there a few idiots on this board that will believe it.

Dont whine cause I call you 17'ers out. This is not some big secret. NewTweederEndzoneDance said something before I did- there are people that know wtf is going on. It's sad that guys like you stand by Stansbury more than you do your own damn school. It's ridiculous. But let Ray turn things around, and you 17'ers will be trying to weezil your way right back in.

17 you

Quoted for emphasis. Nail on the head. If you really don't believe Stans had to go, you're beyond help. And you can't blame Ray for 3 season-ending injuries, 2 of them during the offseason. He's got to have the worst luck I've ever seen for a new coach when it comes to injuries. That said, 17 basketball. It's just filler between the end of football and the start of baseball. Some of you need to realize the SEC, minus UK & Mizzou, don't give a damn about hoops. It's a mid-major conference at best and doesn't look like it's changing any time soon.

Coach34 isn't making things up. Big rumors were flying around in late March about Stansbury trashing the university to prospective coaches that he would call or would call him. Very Polk-ish indeed, in a lot of ways.

So Stansbury told every coach in the nation how wonderful our job is and has encouraged every single basketball booster we have to continue their support of the program? If you believe that then I've got some ocean front property to sell you. At least he didn't go about it publicly, but its not like people don't know what's going on...

Love college basketball and really don't like college baseball so it does matter more to me. Oh well, at least the Grizzlies are good and it only takes me 30 minutes to drive to the games.

We had a proven assistant coach in hand and he had

already begun putting his staff together which was going to be impressive. He thought he had the job. In a matter of a few hours our AD changed his mind. That is when it gets interesting. The why is of that reaks of politics. The other guy received a call from Mark Keenum informing him that Scott had decided to go a different direction. It was handled poorly and the final decision was a killer for MSU basketball. I think it was time for Stans to leave, and I believe we had a very long time to find somone. It is simple. Scott Strickland blew it in the interest of Adidas and some key people connected with Adidas....time for me to shut up.

Did Loafers do anything to limit or ban Bury's access to the program after this went down, or was he too busy with hash tags?
