I found this article interesting. I remember after Katrina there were predictions that we were entering an era of increasingly violent and destructive hurricanes, and that there would be calamitous consequences. Instead, we've had the longest stretch of no significant hurricane-type storm ever recorded.

I'm not drawing any larger conclusions, but it does suggest we know less than we think we know about natural forces.

Thanks, living in hurricane territory, I'm definitely touched thins year now.

In all honesty though, many captains down here have said this would be a rough year stormwise because it got hot early and warmer waters came with the temps. This apparently is a historical indicator of a stormy hurricane season.

Rogue what did you get run from the paddock a while back for? Wasnt it a post in the thread from the guy who benovenantly tips waitresses as a random act of giving?

Thanks for the jinx. Ana will be officially named tomorrow, and it's sitting off our coast. And a high pressure system is parked between the coast and Bermuda.

Go west, young lady, go west. Problem is...Charleston is west.

It was for telling someone that they will die. Never said I was going to kill them, just that they would die. It wasn't that thread you said though.

Didn't even get a permaban, it was a 30 year ban....literally. It had a countdown for like 10,000 days, which I thought was even better than a permaban for laughs.

We've been really lucky. Just glancing at the number of cyclones, named storms, hurricanes, and major hurricanes in the Atlantic each year, we've not been below average over the last 9 years. We've just gotten really lucky about them not blowing to land in the US.

Jim Rome used to have a great sound bite where this meekly says "global waahrming" and every time I see a climate thread it runs through my head. It would be great if message boards had sound bite options like a radio show does.

And they also support the consensus that "most the global warming in the recent decades can be attributed to human activities."
