Driving down Hwy 3 from Moorhead to Hwy 49 at Inverness got me thinking about straight stretches of road. This one is about 6.5 miles without a curve, hill, or bobble (other than the road surface)

Assuming Texas probably has the longest stretches.

South Baldwin county in Alabama is very grid like in spots. There are hills though

I love the stretch of 16 from Holly Bluff back to 49. Not necessarily straight as an arrow, but flat and opportune for “how fast can this b!+ch really go?”

Not the longest stretch by any means but one of my faves is Hwy 49 S from Wiggins to Saucier.

From Tunica to Clarksdale on 61 is nothing but cotton, rice, soybean, and corn fields.

Dundee is the only real “community” on that route.
Speaking of that route and just off of it a couple miles is/was Kathryn’s on Moon Lake.
Is it still open?

Interesting Sunday morning brain teaser/Google exercise given the criteria. Tried to think of where the true flatlands are in the US given most of the country has at least some topography and where RoW considerations hasn't put a kink or two in it somewhere. A lot of straight stretches out west but even those have a "surprising" number of kinks in them and not sure about the hills. Several straight runs that I know are flat across South FL and as noted a lot of the total MS delta area.
That said, our friend AI says this is the champ (I don't know their definition of "significant" and actually still has couple kinks in it).

The longest straight road in the US with no significant hills is a section of North Dakota Highway 46, stretching for 121 miles between Oxbow and Streeter. While there are a couple of other contenders for the title of longest straight road, this section of ND-46 is generally considered the flattest and most consistently straight.

Highway 61 from just south of Tunica to Lyon is straight the entire way. That’s about 30 miles.
It’s been a while since e I’ve been on that stretch. Was thinking there was a curve around Lula., but after looking at map, I see it’s straight.

I-20 from Atlanta to Augusta may not be the longest, but it definitely feels like it on that last leg coming back from Starkville. Straight as an arrow & nothing but pines upon pines. I often envy those of y'all like @aTotal360 who end their journey in Atlanta during that stretch.

I70 across Western Kansas and Eastern Colorado or I80 across Southern Wyoming. I80 is straight all across Nebraska but it has rolling hills. Nice looking country. lots of straight roads in the Dakotas and the Eastern half of Montana. Arizona and Nevada as well.

Get on I-20 in Texas when you want to take a loooong ride. I-10 ain't a short jaunt either. They were kicking around, making 79 into an interstate between Austin and Shreveport.

Yes it has changed ownership a few times the last few years but it is open and very good under the new management. The best onion rings anywhere.

Highway 13 from Mendanhall to Prentiss and then again from Prentiss to Goss is as about a straight non-Delta highway as you’ll find in MS

Good to know.
Never been but it’s on my list of MS restaurants to visit at some point.

Growing up, I thought the drive from Marks to Batesville was the longest, most boring drive on Earth.
I hated that drive from Tunica to Clarksdale when I was a kid. We did it all the time to go to my grandmothers house.

Now I hate going to Jackson from Hernando on 55. I want to fall asleep it’s so boring.

Yep. Salina Kansas to Denver, there's absolutely nothing there. I thought tumbleweed was something used as a movie prop until I made that trek. As a kid from Mississippi I didn't know it was real

I made that drive from Salina, KS to Denver on I-70 several times in the late 80’s. It was my first thought when I saw this thread.

I can’t think of any curves on I-16 between Macon & Savannah…165 miles.

Nah....I experienced longer straight stretches in central South Dakota up into North Dakota toward Fargo than I ever have in W.Texas. Speed limit was 80 mph and the straight stretch crossed over the Continental Divide. I went up there in 2021 right after our NC in Omaha to go see the origin of the Miss. River at Lake Itasca in Minnesota. BTW.....my dog and I both waded across the Mississippi River as it flowed out of Lake Itasca. LOL.....about 30' wide and a foot deep. Really neat park up there and would highly recommend visiting there if you happen to be in the area. When we were there in Fargo, it was 95 degrees and humid. Felt a lot like our Mississippi.

For sure. Been that way a number of times but in recent years to avoid Denver we have started going on North from Kansas City and hanging a left at Nebraska City where it’s a short hop over to Lincoln where we pick up i80. It’s around 450 miles to Cheyenne and while it has rolling hills I don’t think there is a single curve anywhere. You can stay on i80 on across southern Wyoming all the way to Rock Springs which is another 350 miles and still no curves. We go north from Rock Springs torward Jackson Hole and points beyond.

Just from looking at the map (And only looking at the map. Not using any other context at all. Only the lines on the map.), I can tell that this road is not very straight.
