No doubt we're people tend to be too sensitive about these things, but I get the hesitancy to use "Mexican." A company I used to work for had about 25 Spanish-speaking workers in the warehouse. Every once in a while we would get a complaint about the people loading a customer's merchandise "speaking Mexican." None of the employees had ever lived in Mexico, as they were all from different parts of Central and South America, so this was annoying to them. Also, they disliked Mexicans every bit as much as your average southern redneck.Kim Jong Il said:

I'm not the least bit sensitive when it comes to things like that, but to put things like that in a headline kind of confuses me a bit. I saw this Jeremy Lin headline a little while ago...and I'll admit... I laughed. 1) Because...I guess I just have a bad sense of humor. 2) It blew my mind that someone at ESPN would actually think that was a good idea.<div>

Nothing wrong with saying Mexican, assuming the person is from Mexico. Of course, they speak Spanish, not "Mexican".<div>
</div><div>The Lin headline is much worse because Chink is always a derogatory term toward Chinese. "Chink in the armor" of course is a standard term, but when used in association with Lin I can certainly see how it would be offensive.</div>
