Whether you want to blame it on the 2 turnovers in the first half, the voluminous dropped pass by our receivers, the 9 straight pass attempts after recovering an onside kick and stopping their offense, or not running the ball as much as we probably should have. The fact still remains: We Lost. We lost a game we should have won, if you're a MSU fan you have to be used to it.

Auburn is a good team, I say an 8-4 or 9-3 team. We didn't play that bad after making some defensive adjustments. Offense was atrocious but we still hung with them. D-line has not lived up to the hype but overall the defense hasn't looked terrible, other than Toast proving his worth once again and the first drive against Auburn.

I say let's have a beer, wash our hands and look to Baton Rouge next weekend. Offense has nowhere to go but up. Hopefully they'll run the ball more and not try to have our Wing-T offense qb or frosh qb toss the rock too much, which is over 30 times per game.

Dan said that we blew 25 assignments in an interview or something like that. We made all of these mistakes....and we still lost by only three points and were about 12 yards from having a legit shot at tying the game and going to OT, and possibly winning it. Against what was supposed to be a vastly better team- although I disagree with that about Auburn. Think about it. All we have to do is correct even a few of those mistakes, and we will beat someone pretty good.

This is only the second game of the year. Odds are that we will get better as the year goes on.

I'm disappointed with the loss- I am not upset about it. We are very close, and we're going to knock the door down before long.

We won't be terrible this year, but saying we will improve as the season continues is obvious. The problem is that every football team will improve as the season goes on. Our opponents, who are already tough, will improve just as fast as we will. We play in the toughest division in all of college football. I am not ruling out a bowl this year, but I won't hang my head if we don't. We play a murderous schedule. It will not be as tough next year. I think 2011 is the real test for Mullen. I won't gauge Mullen too much on this year, but if we don't make a statement next year, I will be doubtful of Mullen.

The summary: I'm sipping the Mullen kool-aid. He will play the #1 and #4 toughest schedules in the nation in his first two years at MSU. However, our schedule will be easier next year. No marked improvement in 2011 will have me doubting.
