I haven't seen this here today, but it has been reported or rumored that the Auburn game will be at 11:00 (Big Surprise). Now I am sure there will be much bitching and moaning about that start time due to the game day atmosphere taking a minor hit. However, I believe that the 11:00 start time is actually good for us and here are a few reasons why:<div>
</div><div>1. Most people believe that the 11:00AM game hurts the home team, but I disagree. I think it hurts the FAVORED team more. Think the LSU game in Dan's first year, and the Florida game with Croom. Both 11:00AM games where the favored team showed up sleep walking. Now many of you will say that we will be favored in that game. You may be correct, but don't confuse that with Auburn not expecting to win that game. They have beat us like 9 out of the last 10 times. In their minds we are a penciled in victory. Furthermore, after the last two years, we should have ZERO trouble coming out ready to play. Can they really match our intensity at 11:00?</div><div>
</div><div>2. Our players have heard all summer that the Auburn game is the most important game of the season, and like most of us I believe it really is. There is no denying that this game is a must win, and everything the players have been going through this summer in preparation for that game. Because of the build up and the hype that our players our likely to have for this affair, I believe it is much better for them to get up early and play. All sitting around the hotel all day, with all those nerves and energy building, will do is wear them out. </div><div>
</div><div>Therefore, I am for this start time, and believe our fans and players will be ready to give them hell and win. It helps our chances!</div>

3. How am I supposed to wear a maron shirt in that sweltering heat? Not to mention our players in maron jerseys as a clear disadvantage to Auburn wearing white.

Thanks for the point, it truly means a lot. However, I would like to point out that my post said "rumored". Therefore, I am in no way confirming it either. I just thought it might be something that would interest people on this board. Furthermore, I would like to admit that I care much more about winning and could care less what time we play if in fact that game time gives us an advantage. I this case, I think it does. If it gave MSU an advantage to play at 3:00 in the morning, I would be all for it. Just win baby!

A team sitting around all day waiting to play a big gamehasan opportunity to overthink it.

Another advantage to the game being early is that if we win, it makes the rest of the day watching football, and the highlights so much better.

Gravedigger, just curious what points you disagree with? Another example would Auburn getting out to a 14 point lead last year. Most people say that an 11:00 game hurts the home team, but does anyone have an actual example of that? Too me there are more examples where it has hurt the favorite whether they were home or away. Again, with what's happened over the last 2 years between the schools, I see no way that we aren't gun ho ready to play that day. We have more motivation to win that day than they do, and I don't think they will be able to match our intensity at 11 am

I dont believe that either team is affected more by the early start.

Now, if you were talking about LSU and how they prefer night games at home, I'd say that was a very valid point. There is a certain magic to that atmosphere that I'm sure their team prefers because it puts their fans in a more spirited frame of mind.

I also realize we've played well in those games, but I dont thing that it had to do with any advantage of a start time. I also do like the early starts sometimes because in a game like this it gives us the rest of the day to watch other games in the after game tailgate. I think that it doesnt necessarilly hurt the atmosphere.

But I do think you make a good overall point and that is that there is not a DISADVANTAGE to playing at that time for the team.

Matt Wyatt (one of the MSU radio broadcasters) has Larry Templeton on his radio show Friday

As you know, Larry is in charge of TV ... that his gig with the Southeastern Conference office

DURING the interview with Larry, Matt tweets the Auburn game is going to be at 11 a.m. unofficially

So now we connect the dots ... Larry told Matt ... "Hey, I can't tell you this but the Auburn game is at 11 a.m."

I think we tend to play better during the day at home. Look at Egg Bowl 2009 and LSU 2009. Plus, it gives you an excuse to get wasted in the middle of the day. What's not to love.

is that if you win, you get to sit back, relax, and enjoy watching football games for the rest of the day, stress free.

I think this is a repeat post from the last five years.
Fact is that if we beat Auburn it will be an upset. Why? Because we are not that good.
Oh yes, we are good against the Division 1-AA's of the world and the Sunbelt and most of the time in Clownference USA.
But playing in the SEC, we are closer to the bottom than the top no matter what time we play.
