but does anyone here not agree with him? Not that he should play 40minutes a game, but that our substitutions are ridiculous.
I like Stans, and think he has done great things with our basketball program..... but Randy Stewart should play no more than 10 minutes a game, period. He is a waste of space on the floor with the talent that we have on this team. Also, Benock even sniffing the floor is a freaking joke.
The Starting 5 should be:
1) Bost
2) Phil
3) Ravern or Kodi
4) Osby
5) Jarvis
with the rotation of
6) Ravern or Kodi
7) Randy
8) Lewis
I will completely agree with Kodi, on that there should not be a problem with him and Phil being on the floor at the same time.

but you don't say that publicly. Stans is in a tough situation. You bench him - you lose a very good player. You play him - you leave the door open for other comments.

While I agree he should get more then 15 minutes a game, you have to remember he got two fouls in the first half. This is what limited his playing time.

BUT IT'S STANS' FAULT HE GOT THOSE TWO FOULS IN THE FIRST PLACE.

(just trying to fit in)

(bummed we lost, but really, ranked teams lose to 'bad' teams at the beginning of every season)
edit: I assumed the board was doing its usual post-loss Chicken Little routine. Just saw the score for the first time. Oh my. That is bad.

and I think that most here agree. Stans is a great recruiter and assistant coach but he just isn't head coaching material from an X's and O's standpoint and with regard to having control of his teams. The high school basketball talent in Mississippi is outstanding and to his credit, he has been able to pull the majority of it to State. But once all of the talent is there, he doesn't know how to game plan, install an offense, or an effective zone defense. I'm not calling for his head over this one loss, but damn I feel like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. I have a hard time believing that Mullen or Cohen would do such a poor job in preparation. I get the impression that they are in control of their ball clubs. I don't get the same feeling with Stans. His leash just got shortened by a few links in my opinion.

he was pulled for forcing a shot after not getting one for the first 5 minutes of the game...we're letting Randy throw shots from all over but we jerk Kodi for forcing one shot? When he should be shooting more anyway?

Stans would have played him the whole first half with 2 fouls if it wasn't for one bad shot.

FYI: Kodi was 1 of 2 in the first 5 minutes.

Kodi forced a shot, Stansbury sends a sub to the table...next trip- Kodi scores...dead ball comes...Kodi is subbed for...yet, this doesnt happen to Stewart

I'm sure you'll fire back and say that was regards to Xs and Os, but I'll respond by saying this: anyone who has won as much as Stansbury, while not great at those aspects you pointed out, must be head coaching material in order to actually succeed as a head coach. You would have been better off saying he is weak in those areas, which is true, rather than saying he isn't head coaching material. Crooms wasn't head coaching material and it showed in his record. Orgeron wasn't head coaching material, despite being a better recruiter than Stansbury. Guys that aren't head coaching material fail. Stansbury has been successful, although the extent of his success is arguable.

...If you are a pre-season top 20 pick, yet get the hell beat out of you the first game by the likes of Rider, then I am glad a player is willing to step up & put the coach in a bad spot.

Stansbury can punish Kodi all he wants for wandering off the reservation, but Stansbury can not put an asterisk by the Rider debacle.

If Stansbury wants his players to get in line & display a little post game discipline, then Stansbury needs to start coaching.
