Looking Ahead, Who you think is at QB in 09?

I firmly believe that Tyson lee will get a good shot his senior year to thrive in Mullens spread O. Tyson has a quick release and is mature in the pocket with an intelligence that Mullen can coach very quickly. Ideally I would love to rs Russell, however I am realistic that Russell will not be able to RS due to lack of a true QB already in place and lack of depth due to Carrolls leave. Relf is a product that has yet to be seen so I really have no opinion on him at this time. Thoughts?

I really belive that tyson will start the season as the starter and will probably start several games. However, I think TR will get alot of snaps in between and will eventually get the starting nod once he gets a little experience under his belt. I dont know if anyone else saw TR make that unbelievable throw from the 30 to the 2 in the state champ game that split 4 defenders to chris smith. The guy has alot of upside. It's going to be great to have a new "legitimate""qb, new scheme, and most importantly, new coach.

Tyson Lee...no doubt. He is pretty quick and smart. Tyson has enough to run Mullens system relatively effectively for a year while rebuilding takes place.

I agree he has "enough" to run the offense effectively, but i think in the end, TR will end up getting the starting nod because of his arm strength and his ability to actually make throws down field, something we really lacked this year and everyone knows it.

i think lee could make those throws when rolling out. the receivers dropped them when we tried that. this problem will be fixed under mulled...i think. i also think mullen is smart enough to stick with a QB and let Tyler redshirt.

but I think the fact that we have so many Fr. WR's potentially coming in and the fact that Russell knows those guys, knows the spread, and has a better arm, I'm going to give him the nod.

I agree that Lee is going to start and its not going to be close unless Relf pulls some miracle out of his ***. As excited as we all are about Russell, he is a 17 year old high school QB who is not going to be able to grasp an entirely new offensive system and run it effectively against an SEC defense. Lee will give us the best chance to win, but lets face it, were not going to be very good next year. There is a void of talent right now in this program.

My question is does Mullen let Lee take the hits that he lets Tebow take on a regular basis? Lee might be at the bottom of a pile and never come out.

he will be playing by the end of the season. I'm saying this because I don't think our current options are extraordinary. Frankly, I hope Lee surprises me and has a great year.

...but I suspect that Tyson Lee will get the first nod, with Relf being used as the 3rd and short and goal line QB, like Tebow was used his freshman year. At least, that is what I would start out doing, were I Mullen. I'd want as little pressure on Tyler Russell as possible at the beginning of the season. He is already dealing with the expectations that he is going to be the "savior QB" of MSU. If Lee falters, gets his scrawny little butt hurt or something, then I would bring in Russell, but still maintain Relf as the 3rd and short, etc., QB.

lazy to look back and see if this has been discussed here. I know he backed off Fla Int'l. Where's he going now?

Mullen will get relf on the right track he has the perfect frame for a QB, however i think lee will lead the dawgs on their first drive of the season. Relf has promise though
