The best answer I could come up with is that University of Memphis is so big there, it might be a bit of a slap in the face.

But I agree, the Forum is probably the best place to watch basketball out of everywhere mentioned so far. Guess I should say I haven't been to Nashville, but it's def better than the Ga Dome.

I agree that Memphis should get a shot, and New Orleans should damn sure get it more. ATL gets it way too much. It seems like they always want it to be close to Kentucky as much as possible b/c of their fans, but they will travel regardless of where it is. The West needs to get more love when it comes to the tourney locations. I think it should rotate to a new site every year, and it should never be held in Tampa again although we did win that one.

when it's one of, if not THE smallest arenas in the state. The Hump, Tad Pad, MS Gulf Coast Coliseum, Southaven, Tupelo, Hattiesburg...all are bigger.

it probably was the biggest arena in the state. Not sure Hattiesburg or Biloxi are bigger though. If they are, it's not by much. Rick Cleveland had an excellent article a couple of weeks ago about why Jackson desperately needs a new coliseum. He suggests putting it next to the Convention Center, which I think would be fantastic for Jackson. We'd have a much newer and much nicer version of what Birmingham has in the BJCCC.

the reason it's called the Big House is because when you are a high school, that's the place you go for the basketball championship. I remember hearing Rob Jay call it the Big House for years, but I have no idea if he started that or not. It may have been called the Big House way before that.

Plus, no way Jackson would let the SEC Tournament come to town. It would interfere with the high school championships.

Only in Jackson is Ennis Procter > Mike Slive.

and they say the SEC has made a few inquires but they have been unable to schedule it because either the CUSA Tourny has been there the same weekend (and is a huge draw obviously) and the Grizzles were unwilling to schedule around it this year with CUSA in Tulsa.
